I don't know why Democrats can never pull this kind of thing off, but Democrats can never pull this kind of thing off;
Majority in Poll Say Akin's Remarks Don't Reflect G.O.P.'s ViewsIn fact, only 13% think Akin is representative of his party, while 59% don't (27% aren't sure). The poll results are here.
In the wake of the widespread outrage over a Missouri congressman's remarks about rape and abortion, about 60 percent of Americans do not think his comments reflect the views of most Republicans, according to the latest CBS News poll.
That result includes a majority of women....
Democrats have tried to link Mr. Akin's comments and stance against all abortions to leading Republicans, including Mitt Romney....
If a Democrat said something that was similarly inflammatory and outrageous, the numbers would be very, very different. That's because the right-wing noise machine works incessantly to persuade rank-and-file Republicans -- and a lot of folks in the middle -- that any dubious thing said or done by any Democrat (or liberal or leftist or left-leaning college professor or Hollywood celebrity or Marxist foreign dictator or Middle Eastern jihadist) is a reflection on every liberal and Democrat in America. We do nothing on our side that's even remotely comparable to what the right-wing noise machine does. And so we never manage to hang the worst deeds and proclamations of the individual Republicans around other Republicans' necks. And we'll never be able to fight them even to a draw until we can manage that.

Well, there you go.
Lies work. Evasions work. Double-speak works.
Especially since there is a massive, global right wing noise machine repeating their propaganda and nothing comparable on our side.
Current TV?
MSNBC at night?
You're kidding, right?
So who wants to build and operate a global socialist NewsCorp?
Philo,
You can't compare a few hours at night on MSNBC, when you're faced with a cowed CNN, and an openly propagandistic FOX.
Especially when MSNBC has as its morning program, the DC Villagers favorite 3-hour cirle-jerk show, with every brain-washed old punsit vying to NOT say anything new.
And Current?
Don't make me laugh!
My cable company doesn't even have that channel available.
And FOX comes as part of the "Basic" package, but, as of a few years ago, I'm forced to pay for a converter box if I want to watch MSNBC.
Also too, outside of more Liberal pockets of the country, go to almost any bar or restaurant, bus depot, train station, airport termal, doctor's office, auto mechanic's, and if there's a TV there, and it's on, it's on FOX "News."
So, I love you, but you can't compare a few hours at MSNBC with that.
And have fun trying to find some Liberal talkers on AM or FM radio. You'll wear your fingers to the knub, turning that knob trying to find one.
Or, you can pay to get satellite radio, and hear a few.
If there ever was any such thing as a "Liberal Media," it's about as extinct as the Dodo bird.
The public airwaves are full of Conservative propaganda.
And let's not talk about the sorry state of our print media, which is desperately trying to lure the moronic FOX viewers back to reading by printing sh*t like Niall Fergeson's cover story, and the Op-ed pages filled with syndicated columns by Conservatives, but sorely lacking in any Liberals.
A far as the MSM is concerned, "It's a right-wing world." And you're welcome to it.
I get my "news" from the internet. I didn't used to. But now, it's either that, or I watch Food Network, or read novels, histories, and biographies.
If I'm being forced to listen, watch, and read propaganda, I prefer to choose the type that doesn't raise by blood pressure to levels unseen in a living human being.

You are so right, even about the Dr's offices and hospitals.
Jaysus Mary and Joseph!
My wife won't watch the convention new because it's so sickening it makes he want to cry with despair.
Me, too, for that matter.
