ELECTION TO INSTALL ALL BUT THE ABSOLUTE WORST DEVIATIONS FROM SANITY

Let's see: Last night had a huge wave of Republican wins, but Christine O'Donnell, Carl Paladino, Tom Tancredo and Dan Maes, and Sharron Angle (to my surprise) all lost, while Joe Miller seems to be losing and (if Nate Silver is to be believed) Ken Buck is struggling.

In other words, voters rejected many of the craziest candidates.

So explain to me again why it was a good idea for the national message to be "Republicans are going to be exactly the way they were in the Bush years," rather than "Republicans are going to be much crazier"?

And may I just add that whoever put together that "What the Fuck Has Obama Done So Far?" Web site understands messaging better than any Democrat in Washington -- and certainly anyone working in the White House? (Rachel Maddow, too.)

****

Ahhh, but our pal Allen West apparently won, so he may jump to the front of the crazy-freshman queue.
