YES, BUT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT BIZARRO WORLD, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE GOP
A blogger for The Economist gets just about everything wrong about Sarah Palin:
* Governor Palin, let your defenders defend you. You want to stay above the fray, oozing gravitas, like Barack Obama.
* Contemplate the difference between trivia and meaningful information. You told Esquire, "You can! You can see Russia from Alaska." In which category does that fun fact fall?
* Don't call attention to your past missteps ... when Katie Couric asks about your own media diet, it is odd for your internal reaction to be, as you recently explained, "Katie, you're not the center of everybody's universe."
... * Oh, and one last thing. Try not to stew in a slow cooker of resentment....
All of this is true if Sarah Palin wants to appeal to ordinary sane Americans. She doesn't. She wants to appeal to the Republican base. Not only is everything you urge her to avoid not a problem as far as the Republican base is concerned, it is a problem that Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee and other wannabe 2012 nominees don't do enough things that make people like us roll our eyes. As far as the Republican base is concerned, our eye-rolling is a badge of honor for Sarah Palin. Hell, it's an Academy Award, if not a Nobel Prize.
