THIS REMINDS ME OF A SONG
Rod Blagojevich played Harry Reid for a chump in the Burris matter, which apparently wasn't particularly difficult; it's been painful to watch, and there probably won't be a better account of what went wrong than Jane Hamsher's post "I Want to Play Poker with Harry Reid."
Well, now the Democrats apparently plan to give in and seat Burris, and we're told by the Huffington Post's Sam Stein that this was the Obama team's idea.
Now, I suspect Jane wouldn't want to play poker with Barack Obama -- he's reported to be quite skilled. And, according to friends who used to play with him regularly back in Springfield, what's his style?
Obama studied the odds carefully, friends say. If he had strong cards, he'd play. If he didn't, he would fold rather than bet good money on the chance the right card would show up when he needed it.
Thanks to Harry Reid, the right card in this card is never, ever going to show up. Barack Obama has figured this out.
How does the song go?
You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.
Know when to walk away, and know when to run.
When to fold 'em? Now.
