South Carolina GOP Moves Up 2008 Primary

The South Carolina Republican Party has set its 2008 primary for an earlier-than-expected January 19. Although national party leadership on both sides has said that states holding primaries before February 5 will be sent to bed without supper lose half their delegates at the conventions, Florida said "nanny nanny boo boo" and scheduled its election for January 29. South Carolina, miffed at the possibility of losing its first-in-the-South status, has now seen and raised Florida's date change.

Which means New Hampshire will move its primary back to January 12, and Iowa will move its caucuses back to December, and...oh, hell, why don't we just hold the elections now? We could move up Inauguration Day, too -- and get rid of Bushco that much sooner.

I can dream, can't I?
