Six years ago today, George W. Bush was handed a memo entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Attack in US". His response to the briefer? Reportedly, "All right. You've covered your ass now." Thirty-six days later, the twin towers came down, and more that 3,000 American citizens died.

And where is bin Laden now? In the grave? Languishing in prison? Gee, let's see what Bush has to say:

September 17, 2001: "I want justice," Bush said. "And there's an old poster out West… I recall, that said, 'Wanted, Dead or Alive.'"

March 13, 2002: "So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you."

Bush may have forgotten. We shouldn't.
