Joe Biden told an AARP town-hall meeting that if we maintain the current health-care system "[w]e're going to go bankrupt as a nation," then said,

"Now, people when I say that look at me and say, 'What are you talking about, Joe? You're telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?'" Biden said. "The answer is yes, that's what I'm telling you."

A lot of right-wingers think this is hilarious.

Um, this wouldn't be the same crowd that insists at every available opportunity that cutting taxes always increases tax revenues, would it?

So the statement that's paradoxical but true strikes them as a joke, but the one that's paradoxical and also utter nonsense doesn't?
