I have a feeling this guy hasn't seen the Kerry-bashing op-ed that was just posted at Al-Jazeera's English-language Web site:*

...Kerry's statements on foreign policy indicate, as they are intended to do, that he is ready and willing to kill and maim for whatever are America's interests of the moment abroad. Of course, he doesn't say just those words, but what he does say carries those implications. Never mind any emphasis on diplomacy, international institutions, or cooperation - that's all sissy stuff....

That's a small taste. It's all like that.

I should point out that this isn't the raw, authentic voice of the Middle East -- the author is John Chuckman, who, I learn here, grew up in Chicago and went to Canada during the Vietnam War. He writes for CounterPunch and Yellow Times and similar sites; there's more Chuckman here and here. But in any case, there it is.

*(UPDATE: In this post I identify as Al-Jazeera's English-language site. The two are unrelated. Dumb mistake on my part.)
