At National Review Online, Mark R. Levin reproduces excerpts from four dire stories that ran in The New York Times after the end of World War II (e.g., "Germans Reveal Hate of Americans") Meanwhile, Jessica over at Kultursmog reproduced a story from the a postwar issue of Life: "Americans Are Losing the Victory in Europe."

There's one problem with using these articles to show that anyone who predicts disaster in Iraq is just a Gloomy Gus: the dates. The Times articles quoted by Levin all ran in 1945. The Life article quoted at Kutursmog ran in January 1946.

Anyone remember when the Marshall Plan started? 1948.
