"ARE THERE ANY OTHER VOTING-BLOC SHOUT-OUTS YOU'D LIKE CNN TO INCLUDE IN THIS 'NEWS' STORY ON YOU, CONGRESSMAN RYAN?"

CNN's Dana Bash set out to do a story on Paul Ryan's debate prep -- and Ryan, in turn, set out to use CNN to remind voters that LOOK! LOOK! I'M A BOWHUNTER! NOT LIKE THOSE PANTYWAISTS OBAMA AND BIDEN! Which, of course, has absolutely nothing to do with debate prep, and everything to do with using CNN to express affinity with a pretty big voting bloc, especially in Midwestern swing states.

And Bash is only too happy to let him do this:

From the online text version of the story:

As Rep. Paul Ryan prepares for his first and only showdown with Vice President Joe Biden, the GOP vice presidential nominee tells CNN in an exclusive interview that he knows what it takes to meticulously prepare for a big event.

A proud and experienced hunter, the Wisconsin congressman is used to going to great lengths to sharpen his game.

"I like the strategy of bow hunting and it takes a lot of preparation, and I do take it seriously because I am much more successful if I do things properly and prepare the right way," he told CNN recently while on the campaign trail in Memphis.

With that same mind set, Ryan has been drilling down, getting ready for the debate pretty much since the day he was tapped to be Mitt Romney's running mate....

Oh, and just to be sure the Romney/Ryan ticket gets maximum benefit from the story, Bash throws in another demographic shout-out in the online story:
But in the end, the Catholic deer hunter from Wisconsin said he's more pumped up than anything. "I'm not intimidated; I'm actually excited about it."
HELLO, CATHOLICS FROM OHIO AND PENNSYLVANIA AND MICHIGAN! DID YOU HEAR THAT? RYAN'S ONE OF YOU!

Wow, that's full-service journalism.

With the exception of Soledad O'Brien, CNN is completely unwatchable.

I'm amazed this hasn't already put Ted Turner in his grave, just so he can spin in it.

Sorry to any bow hunters out there, but after picking up a bow hunting magazine and seeing all the material on blood trails, how to follow them, following a blood trail for two days, I can only conclude it's a horrific, unnecessarily cruel practice. I see no sportsmanship in it at all.

In any case, how nonsensical to think that hunting could be any kind of debate prep. What good did it ever do Elmer Fudd?

My doctor is a Catholic deer hunter who lives and works in PA.

Won't be voting for the GOP, though.

Big fan of expanding government provision of health care.

Strong Medicare, strong Medicaid, CHIP, Obamacare, you name it and he's on board.

Who would've thunk it?
