A TEST: HOW NEUTERED ARE THE DEMOCRATS?

They're rubbing your faces in it, Democrats. They're assuming you don't have the stones to respond to this, and they think that's just hilarious. Well? Are they right?

Justice's wife launches 'tea party' group

... Virginia Thomas ... is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and she has launched a tea-party-linked group that could test the traditional notions of political impartiality for the court.

In January, Virginia Thomas created Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative "core principles," she said.

The group plans to issue score cards for Congress members and be involved in the November election, although Thomas would not specify how. She said it would accept donations from various sources -- including corporations -- as allowed under campaign finance rules recently loosened by the Supreme Court....

Ask yourself hwhat would happen if the spouse of a Supreme Court Justice appointed by a Democrat started a MoveOn-style organization. Would he or she be forced to back down by sunset today, or would the process drag out 24 hours? It wouldn't go on any longer than that. The impeachment calls would start immediately.

Guys, even David Broder isn't going to be able to rationalize this one.

For once, show some spine? Flood the zone? Hammer away at this, and don't stop until it's a thorough embarrassment for the Republicans and the right? Anyone?

UPDATE: Kevin K. notes in comments that Virginia Thomas's presence at CPAC -- which was, of course, a couple of weeks ago -- was noted at the time on Twitter. Well, that's all I need to know. For the Republicans, a tweet or two would have been all that was necessary to set off a full-blown firestorm, in a hundred media outlets, within hours. This is in the L.A. Freakin' Times, and still, as far as I know, nothing from the Dems.

Oh, and there's more on this from M. Bouffant -- posting a few weeks ago. So someone noticed -- not someone in an official Democratic capacity, but, hey, someone.

Unsurprisingly, the Republicans are on the offensive faster than the Democrats.
