BUT ... BUT ... SURELY THIS WILL MAKE TEABAGGERS REJECT THE GOP!!!

I totally believe the emerging conventional wisdom -- you know, that the tea party crowd hates Wall Street fat cats -- so Republicans, I believe, are signing their own political death warrant!

Republicans are stepping up their campaign to win donations from Wall Street...

GOP strategists hope to benefit from the reaction to the White House's populist rhetoric and proposals, which range from sharp critiques of bonuses to a tax on big Wall Street banks, caps on executive pay and curbs on business practices deemed too risky.

Democrats have dominated Wall Street's fund-raising circles in recent elections. Mr. Obama himself raised millions of dollars from employees of Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Citigroup Inc., J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. and other Wall Street firms....

Through the third quarter, campaign-finance reports show that some major Wall Street players began sending an increasing share of their donations to Republicans....

Reportedly, House Minority Leader John Boehner met last week with James Dimon, the chairman and CEO of J.P. Morgan -- and then today there was this shocking act of hypocrisy from Boehner:

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said the GOP and the groups conservative activists across the country are indistinguishable when it comes to policy.

"There really is no difference between what Republicans believe in and what the tea party activists believe in," Boehner said during an appearance on the conservative Mike Gallagher's radio show.

Appalling! Tea partiers hate Wall Street CEOs! Surely they're going to reject GOP candidates from now on! Surely they're going to tell the Republican Party where it can stick its ill-gotten Wall Street lucre! What a strategic error on the part of John Boehner and his entire party!

Um, right?
