BECK AND HOROWITZ'S NOTION OF BLOOD GUILT

The Glenn Beck and the Drudge/Breitbart/Murdoch filmmaking kidz have been having fun collecting scalps (Van Jones, ACORN) -- but I continue to wonder if they're learning the wrong lessons from all this.

They seem to think everyone in, around, or vaguely connected to Obama is now going to be a soft target, and that the general public has accepted their master narrative: that what's wrong with these people specifically is that they're communists. (In fact, what got Van Jones, after months of Beck attacks along commie-baiting lines, was trutherism, and what's getting ACORN right now is an apparent live-and-let-live attitude on the part of some staffers to prostitution. And I think the damage to anyone other than Jones and ACORN themselves is limited -- most Americans didn't know who Jones was, and wouldn't have had the slightest interest in him if they'd known him, and most non-teabagger Americans realize that ACORN and the government are two separate things.)

Right now I'm reading this at a righty blog called the Radio Patriot:

Scott Baker of Breitbart TV's The B-Cast was on during Glenn [Beck]'s final segment, connecting the dots between POTUS advisor Valerie Jarrett and Obama's past, including his grandparents, his mother, and Franklin Davis Marshall who played an influential role in his life.

This is stuff you can't make up.

Yesterday I came across a detailed expose about Valerie Jarrett, who as we are learning, has and is playing a major role in this presidency. She is Obama's brain. She's also Michelle's brain too.

A must read. It's 7 pages printed out, but you can find it online at FrontPageMag.

As Glenn Beck put it today, "The whole thing is coming undone. Brace yourselves."

Er no. "The whole thing" is not "coming undone." But please, Glenn, bark up this tree as long as you want. And you too, Davey Horowitz.

You see, the FrontPage article (written by Ben Johnson) is seven pages of nothing. I'm sure it's highly effective boob-bait for the bubbas, but it doesn't find anything a sane American would give a crap about.

And the most notable feature is that its anti-Jarrett brief is based in what can only be called blood guilt:

Her late father-in-law, Vernon Jarrett, was a pioneering black journalist in "negro" newspapers, After graduating from Knoxville College, Vernon Jarrett started at The Chicago Defender in 1946, where he wrote columns extolling Communist poet Langston Hughes and lifelong Stalinists W.E.B. DuBois and Paul Robeson....

When Vernon died in 2004, he was saluted in the pages of
People's Weekly Worker, the house organ of the Communist Party USA. A final point of confluence, perhaps more fortuitous than anything: Vernon Jarrett once sat on a union publicity committee with Frank Marshall Davis, the Communist poet who occasionally counseled... the young Barack Obama.

Valerie Jarrett had more immediate radical ties. Her mother, Barbara Taylor Bowman, ... co-founded the Erickson Institute in Chicago and still serves on its Board of Trustees. Tom Ayers, the father of Bill Ayers, was a one-time fellow trustee. According to WorldNet Daily's Brad O'Leary, the Erickson board also included Bill Ayers' wife, Bernadine Dohrn. For his part, Bill Ayers called Bowman "a neighbor and friend" in his book
A Kind and Just Parent, noting his neighbors include Louis Farrakhan (whose guard, The Fruit of Islam, patrols the neighborhood and "has an eye on things twenty-four hours a day"), and "writer Barack Obama."

And, er, Valerie Jarrett? What are her sins? Oh -- it doesn't matter. Her father-in-law praised Langston Hughes! Her mother was on an education board with Bill Ayers's father! BLOOD WILL TELL!!!

Geography, too. We get the neighborhood as villain -- a neighborhood that's commie and elitist and even thuggishly pro-entrenched power. No, really:

Perhaps this last reference is the key to understanding Jarrett and the Obamas: their common formation by Chicago's elite Hyde Park neighborhood. The University of Chicago essentially created the neighborhood from scratch, driving out its poor (and middle class) residents, of all races, and creating a chic atmosphere of cultural elitism....

One of Obama's neighbors, the late, left-wing Rabbi Arnold Wolf -- a Democratic Socialist who once invited the Chicago 7 to address his synagogue -- described the Hyde Park environment and Obama's place in it to
The Weekly Standard. "We had a party for him at our house when he was just starting, back in the Nineties. I said right away: 'Here's a guy who could sell our product, and sell it with splendor!'" And what is the Hyde Park "product," the reporter asked? "It's a rational, progressive philosophy based on experience. You see it here. This neighborhood is genuinely integrated. We did it here, we really did it! Not just talk about it. Look around. And Barack and his family fit right in. This is their neighborhood."

There it is. Elitism equals communism equals miscegenation.

Elitist blacks like the Obamas and Valerie Jarrett are the new rootless-cosmopolitan evil international Jews.

The Beck interview with Breitbart's Scott Baker is more of the same, reaching back even further into the family tree:

BAKER: ... Her grandfather was very important in Chicago housing. In fact, one of the big housing, public housing projects was named after him.

GLENN: Okay. So her grandfather was big into public housing.

BAKER: Yes, exactly. Now, her mother, Barbara Bowman, was very into education, a childhood education expert.

GLENN: Hang on. Listen to this carefully.

BAKER: And she

GLENN: Mom is an education expert.

BAKER: Right. And on all, you know, very progressive causes as you might expect.

GLENN: No, really. Housing, public housing king and education expert mate and have a child.

THE ANTICHRIST!!!!

Oh, and both the Beck interview and FrontPage find something sinister and rootless-cosmopolitan-y in Valerie Jarrett's birthplace:

BAKER: Turns out dad's a progressive, too. So the and Valerie Jarrett's father is interesting. James Bowman, a doctor who was working for the U.S. in a program in Iran. In fact, Valerie Jarrett was born in Iran and lived there for the first five years of her life.

GLENN: Hold it. Hold it. I'm sorry. What?

BAKER: Yeah. She was born in Shiraz, Iran...

GLENN: Sure. So wait, wait. Dad, doctor, washing for the government in Iran.

BAKER: Right.

GLENN: She's born in Iran from the mom who is big in education and starts this charity....

(Of course, Bowman went to Iran to set up a hospital in the 1950s, when the Shah was in power. Valerie Jarrett was born in 1956, three years after the U.S.-backed coup that overthrew the government of Prime Minister Mohammed Mosaddegh.)

This plays extremely well with the base. It might be tipping some swing voters.

But if it's scalps the Beckites and teabaggers want, this ain't gonna do it.
