The Tea Party has in reality not been a howling mob. Because we are decent, law abiding people.What you fail to understand is that it truly is a grass roots organization.. I know because I have been a part of it. We have people of different ages, sexes, race, age. This was evident in our first meeting back in 2009 with a small group of people.. What unites us is a concern for keeping the COnstitution of the US as law of the land and limiting government spending and power. Disagreeing with a person's actions and policies does not equal racism.

How many arrests were there during the Overpasses for Obama's Impeachment protests? What violence was reported? We non only have opposing views but also a completely different set if ideals and decency. The Tea Party inflicted constraints on spending have had profound effect. The interest on the debt relative to revenues has dropped. The fact that the bastards have found a way to continue to spend above the debt ceiling with out House initiation should give anyone who loves America pause. Unless you don't.

One of the things that Obama is very concerned about, by his own admission, is his legacy. During the build up to Obama Care he even public stated (more than once, in fact) that he would rather be a one-term president and get his health care package passed, than to have two terms but not accomplish his agenda.

Well, the battle for Obama Care continues. Republicans are now trying to find a way to defund the plan or to at least delay the implementation of as many pieces to the program as possible. Only time will tell how effective these strategies and tactics will be.

On the economic front, Obama’s legacy is much clearer. The data is not only compelling, it is overwhelming. Since Obama took office the economy has added seven times more part-time jobs as it has full-time jobs.

Obama goes around from place to place and speech to speech trumpeting his ‘incredible’ record on job growth and job creation and claiming all these wonderful things that his administration has done to improve the economy. Once again, the president is just wrong. Maybe it is all wishful thinking. I am sure Obama would like to think that he has really improved the economy. Possibly he is conceited enough to actually believe his own lies?

Whatever the reason is, since January 2009 the United States has added just 270,000 full time jobs. That is a net number, by the way. As sad as that number is, and less than 70,000 net jobs per year is quite sad in an economy that is supposedly ‘recovering,’ Obama has added 1.9 million part-time jobs. This is, indeed, almost 7 times more.

These statistics come right from the House Ways and Means Committee, by the way. Do these numbers seem troubling to anyone else, or is it just me? Many Republicans are arguing that one of the key reasons for this trend is due to the passage of Obama Care. There are strict provisions in this law which will slap businesses with penalties for hiring more full-time workers unless they are provided with health insurance coverage.

Obviously, no business wants to be forced into a situation where they must pay penalty, or provide expensive comprehensive insurance for each newly hired employee. It just does not make sense from a business perspective.

Maybe part of the Obama legacy is to help destroy the middle class? It certainly seems as if his policies are designed to push everyone into a situation where one job is no loner enough. Welcome to the new realities of the Obama part-time worker economy…where now you will need to hold down two or even three part-time jobs just to make the same money as from your last full-time position.

Oh, but never fear, because Obama Care will come to the rescue when you cannot find a part-time employer willing to offer you health insurance. Part-time work and single payer health care system, here we come!!

The left does what the left always does: Tries to demonize, with lies, half-truths and innuendo, their political opposition. (In fact, the left, when in actual power, uses the enforcement apparatus of government to suppress their political opposition, which is why they are not fit to formulate or implement national policy. They just can't be trusted to do so.) The left routinely attacks the right and tries to stifle opposing speech. Now, when the right organizes and uses the same tactics against the left, the left cries "Foul!" and, of course, "Racism!" When the left actually uses fact, logic, history and reasoning to address problems, they won't be on the left anymore...they'll be conservatives! Emotions, feelings and theories don't solve problems, and that's all the left has ever had. That and violence, of course.

Why are Tea Party people villifying Obama for carrying on virtually the same policies as Bush? Where was the outrage when Bush and Cheney were starting two unfunded wars? It's funny how you Teabaggers can remember history as far back as the Founding Fathers, but you're oddly ignorant of a more recent period, the 1930's and The Great Depression.
There's a reason our grandparents had pictures of FDR on their living room walls-he saved this country with what you refer to as tax and spend policies and redistribution of wealth.
He created countless job creation programs to rebuild our infrastructure, and more importantly, put people back to work. It's what we call "stimulus" today.
But the difference today is we have an opposition party that is cowed by a loose collection of so-called "patriots", and will not allow similar much-needed programs today. Any complaints you have about the sluggish jobs production should be directed to your bathroom mirror.
And it is a well known fact that large companies are sitting on a ton of money, unwilling to use it to improve the economy by hiring more people. Yes, shocking as it may be, greed is more important to them than their fellow citizens. Gordon Gekko would be proud.
Obamacare is not the problem. It's people like you, who allow slick politicians and political operatives to mislead and lie to you about it, who are the problem. The law is not perfect, but it has many good facets that you would be aware of if you were truly informed.
And finally, let me just say that your ignorant, self-righteous rants about Obama and the government, are so un-moored from any understanding government and economics that it's frightening. Please go away, and don't come back until there's a Republican president who's starting unnecessary wars and new federal spending programs without paying for them.

They decry Fox News and call it unfair that FNC exists, and yet there are a multiplicity of leftist so-called "news" outlets pumping out propaganda at a break-neck pace. We are tea party members because as crackers in my case native...we are sick of this race bating, spendaholic, socialist person running us into the ground and trying to create a new world order. We are all individuals viewing the world through our own little window. We all seem to believe we are superior to others because our worldview has to be correct and every one else's is inherently flawed because our views are different. Our country is a house divided, it always has been to one degree or another. It probably always will be. Change brings conflict and the world I see constantly changes. We could all try to make it a little better for ourselves, our families and our communities and just maybe we could hopefully pass on a better world for the generations to follow. We are all fallible and I believe the more entrenched and unyielding your beliefs are about "other people" the more likely you are to have a much more distorted view of the actual people and world we all live in. A belief which might have accurately described some "person" yesterday may no longer be true of that person today. Some truths could be inherently true each and every day, I believe we should, and could, treat others as we would like to be treated and if we all did so we could STOP THE HATE. I would be characterized as very conservative in some areas of my life and very liberal in others. What am I left nut, right nut, I don't even know. BUT, IT is so easy to label, demonize, dehumanize and hate though, isn't it? Somehow hating brings a sense of superiority to us, empowers us, defines us? Doesn't our "NEWS" media foster and feed from the hate it evokes from us? Stop feeding into it, stop labeling others, stop hating. Humble advice from someone who has been humbled by life and his own poor choices.

The truth is, the government is no different under Obama than it has been under any other president. There's no way one man could turn this into a socialist country. Just because you suddenly woke up in 2009 and saw that the government spent a lot of money doesn't mean that it hasn't been going on for decades.
And I never called you racist. God only knows why you suddenly started caring about government spending or how many times Obama uses Air Force One or how many vacations he and his family take. I only know that I don't recall any president in history that has been questioned about the use of Air Force One.
The debt ceiling fight is the ultimate in hypocrisy; Republican lawmakers pass bills to spend money throughout the session, and when it comes time to pay for it, they're like that friend you take out to dinner, and when the bill comes he says, "Oh, sorry, bro, I forgot my wallet." People who don't pay their bills should be held accountable, don't you agree?
And please educate yourselves about the differences between the government budget and a household budget.
Stop wasting your time and money on Tea Party misinformation and invest instead in some classes in History and Economics. You might be surprised what you learn.

We don’t have to get a government student loan to figure that out. Student loans are the next bubble to burst. You used to be able to pay your way through college until the government got involved, now tuition is so high it’s impossible. It’s called what the market will bear. Your portion that you pay is still the same, but now you have a government loan to pay back also. See sentence one to see why this could be a big problem.

This is not my blog so I cannot fully develop this idea. I can tell you, however, that as someone who once voted for a democratic candidate in college, I can understand the allure of liberal ideology. In a word, it is utopian. It's how we wish the world would be. The only hitch is that all the wonderful ideas usually don't pan out too well in practice, either due to politicians' avarice, the impracticality of these seemingly perfect measures/ideas, or just simply because there are way too many special interests to satisfy in this mottled quilt that is our beloved country. I recently wrote a paper about affirmative action in public administration and how showing favoritism/inclusion to a segment of society logically leads to the exclusion of other members of the same society. Affirmative action, a measure meant to eradicate discrimination, only led to increased discrimination, in spite of its lofty goal.

My friend in college used to say that the Democratic party is the party of dreamers, the party we join when we turn eighteen and believe in the beautiful ideas that our professors spout at us in lecture halls. And then we graduate and encounter the real world: applying for internships and jobs, our educational loans amassing interest and bills piling up at our doors (or, in this economy, at the door of our parents). All those once utopian ideas we argued about in college coffee houses till we were blue in the face began to wilt because they could not keep us afloat during our financial hardships.

Today, I'm older, more shrewd, and more bitter than the espresso I used to swill in college because I look back at who I was in college and have to ruefully shake my head at the capriciousness and naivete of youth. I was utterly convinced that it would be a good idea to vote for someone who, for all intents and purposes, was blowing bubbles at the lectern during presidential debates (instead of tackling icky issues, like national security and the burgeoning debt owed to China). Does my embittered attitude and white hair make me a Republican now? Maybe not. But I have learned to respect the pragmatism of conservative ideology because it is backed by solid evidence and hardheaded logic. There is no emotionality, whims, or fancy. I liken my shift in political leanings to switching college majors: from humanities to a science or math major. The flowery humanities major will land you a job as a Starbucks barista dependent on welfare and the kindness of others (or hopelessly unable to even fathom how to begin life with someone without being crushed by all the pressures of money), while the science or math major will enable you to earn a real full time job that you can support a family with and be utterly self-sufficient.

If you peabody nobis had any idea about government you would not have opened your mouth and inserted your foot. We live in a place called the United States of America, founded on the principles of limited government, for the people by the people. It is a REPUBLIC! in a Republic form of government the people vote for a representative to represent them in the government. Doing so allows the people the SAY as TO WHAT WHEN WHERE AND HOW THE GOVERNMENT IS RUN.
As far as your comment about regulations, sure we need a few, but for the most part we do not need every little thing regulated.
Your very first statement is exactly how you see Obama, and it shows how you want things to be, you said he ..."Decreed..." as if he where king,(no, king and president are not the same)you want a dictatorship (that means that one person controls everything in the government and allows certain people the authority to do certain task). getting you mad is easy, and just let you put your foot right in there between those government teeth.

In reality, the Tea Party folks are made up of ordinary people who clean up after themselves, but who are quite passionate about the country they love. What confuses me is why people want to change a proven methodology. Our forefathers (all much more highly educated and intelligent than our current leaders) figured out a great form of government. And the conservatives want to keep that form of government and the liberals want to change it. Why? It's been shown that socialism and libertarianism are failures every time they have been tried. So what makes them think that our system needs to change towards failed systems? Very ignorant.

Voraluk: To be fair, the Founders had included the institution of slavery in that form or government, as well as voting privileges for monied landowners. And the first time around, with the Articles of Confederation, it fell apart and had to be redone.

Now, if the goal o conservatism is to roll things back to the time where we had no standing army, no infrastructure, and universal suffrage was unheard of, then I would like to hear them SAY that, and run on it, rather than say they are for freedom and liberty, and neglect to add the footnote 'Your Mileage May Vary."

Abanterer: Your argument is unfair. We had no standing army at the time of the Founders because they were militia and scrounged-up volunteers. And the infrastructure was on it's way to being well developed after the Articles were revised into the Amendments. Our current government is full of corrupt politicians, a failing healthcare system, and a military that is being downsized. That sounds like a downhill slope to me. At least during the early years of the U.S. there was some actual forward progression. Liberal politics are causing this nation to fail RIGHT NOW in the Capitol, in America, and her interests abroad. The Hope and Change was supposed to be here 2 years ago, but I can't seem to find any. Is there any in Liberal Detroit? No. They were fooled.

I assume you're opposed to the Affordable Care Act, is there something in the Constitution of this country that explicitly says there shouldn't be universal health care in the United States? I do believe the Supreme Court would disagree if you said no.

It's not just your country - we all live here. We disagree on things, true, but it's our nation, plural.

The normal thing to do, when people disagree, it to debate, and come to a compromise and an understanding, and not intimidate the other side with dire consequences. We may not like the final decision, but at least there's something to work with.

The modern GOP is having none of that. The Democrats repeatedly tried to reach out to your side, and time and again we were shouted down, called treasonous, and occasionally injured, hounded, or even shot.

Look at this thread and glance through the others - how many end in threats, or declarations of some day when we're gonna get ours? Not all, certainly, but more than a few.

I can't support the GOP, as long as they let bullies and creeps run rampant.

The economy is in a slump because of the Sequester, and the Mortgage Bubble. The Latter is caused by the policies of the prior administration, and the Former was caused when the GOP started holding the economy hostage, something we will likely see again. Austerity economics is great if you were already set for life, not so much if you work for a living.

The sequester is a brick in the grand canyon attempt to correct things like the post office losing apx 3 billion in 2009 and 30 billion in 2012. The only reason they go after the police and fire is scare tactic. After you max all your credit cards, don’t you have to stop spending?

The government had its role in the housing bubble the minute it started giving tax breaks for home ownership. The renter says I am getting tax penalized for not owning a house, so I better buy one whether it makes sense for my lifestyle or not.

I am not crediting these to Teflon, I mean “transparent” Obama, but he is in office now and he can’t keep spending money we don’t have. When the Chinese come to collect, you are going to hope some Americans kept their guns.

The Credit Ceiling is not like your credit cards, and the government does not work like your checkbook budget. This is obvious and it is infuriating that it keeps popping back up like Dracula no matter how many times you stab it in the heart. If the government cuts its spending, it is forced to downsize staff, eliminating jobs, it is forced to buy less, which means vendors up and down the line get hit, and it puts less people on maintaining the infrastructure we have, making it weaker and requiring more money to fix.

Because the GOP had chosen, foolishly, to not pay the bills the government had racked up by stonewalling on the debt ceiling, they forced this silly sequester on us, and all it was supposed to do is to get them to the table to avoid cuts to programs they didn't want cut. Instead, they are probably going to do the same thing, and cause even more havoc.

The housing bubble was caused when conservatives, primarily in the GOP but also, sadly, in the Democrat corner, thought de-regulating the banking and financial sectors would b a good idea. And it turns out, you can't trust them; They benefit from the foreclosure of homes, they benefit from the ability to get invested money insured by the government, and they enjoyed the relative immunity from prosecution, by both parties. Believe me, if Obama had actually gone after the banks like he should have, and maybe put some of these Bastards in Suits in the pokey, I'd send him a cake. But, it seems that having a lot of money makes you immune to such things - and the Tea party or the Big PR firms that supported them, or the GOP in general have convinced me they will do even less than he did.

And the Chinese are not coming to collect anytime soon - they invested in Treasury bonds, and they did that because it's better for trade. They can't cash it, because they would nail their economy hard. They have some influence, because they are a major trading partner, but they can't just up and buy Delaware, it simply doesn't work like that. If you need a gun to feel safe from the threat of international trade minutia, you probably have a bigger problem somewhere else.

I understand that cut backs mean layoffs; I am from the private sector. Just because the government does not work like your check book, does not mean there is a money tree in the backyard. Government employees and people on assistance outnumber tax payers, that is not sustainable and nobody wins. We are not talking about a little bit of money; we are talking about 5.9 trillion dollars. The post office looses so much money I can’t even find a published total, last I read was double digit billions, and that is just one agency. Maybe you understand a magic money concept that helps you sleep at night, but for a mere mortal, this is very disturbing. Free enterprise is the only thing that can get us out of this mess, ask Bono. The big bad business people need competition to keep them honest, not government regulations that they are so skilled at manipulating. Use your buying power, buy organic, shop small, etc.

It was the regulating and the manipulation of the regulations that caused people to buy houses they could not afford. No one was forced to buy a house. The government and its social engineering policies penalized people that didn’t by making them pay more taxes, but we should resist free, because it always cost more in the end. A light should go on if you are living in a house nicer then your parents and your parents make more money then you do. That’s my plug for personal responsibility.

I was vaguely referencing a quote from a Japanese advisor at the beginning of WWII that advised not to attack our main land because there would be a gun behind every blade of grass. Maybe Delaware is not on the block but I hope you don’t eat pork.

Good News - the US is a pretty wealthy nation. We can absorb that debt because our assets are something over 10 times larger. And because interest rates are so low, the amount we're paying on the debt is manageable. Our debt to GDP ratio is in better shape than most nations, including Germany. It's something to keep an eye on, but currently, we can manage the current levels - austerity is just hurting us unnecessarily.

And don't get me started on the PO - the GOP Congress in 2006 saddled them with the task of having to fund pensions of their employees for 75 years. Without that ridiculous requirement, they'd be running a surplus. And the only thing Bono is qualified to discuss is sunglasses, IMHO.

How is it that we can discuss the power of a Free Market in one paragraph, and in the next, how corporations twisted the regulations for their gain? I will never understand how an industry that has responded repeatedly to deregulation in the past by becoming a bunch of corrupt bastards will somehow behave the second they lose all regulations and are allowed full rein with no checks. The banks lied people into getting loans that looked manageable initially, then spiked the deals later. Blaming them for taking the deal is blaming them for not being able to read the loan officers mind, or peer into the future. The full cause of the crisis starts with the financial industry, and ends with the financial industry. The input of a Blue collar worker from Pittsburgh is vanishingly minute.

And, only in passing, I'm quietly confident that, whoever said it (Not Yamamoto, as has been claimed, but I had to look that up), said it in a time before the ICBM and Thermonuclear Bombs were a thing, which would greatly reduce the amount of cover a blade of grass provides. Personally, I get a 'Plate of shrimp' moment whenever I hear about how we all need guns to protect the nation from invaders, because I then often hear how 'You guys better watch yourselves, because we know which side has the guns.'

It cost $.46 cents to mail a letter from the Florida everglades to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. No private company’s pricing structure is that out of whack. They say its retirement for sympathy; just like its police and fire they attack for scare tactic when budget cuts are suggested. And again this is one out so many agencies my brain can’t even fathom how many.
