WHY THE HELL IS FRANK GAFFNEY EVEN ON MY TV?

Amanda Terkel at Think Progress reports that Frank Gaffney was on TV today telling MSNBC's David Shuster that Barack Obama has been signaling to Muslim in code that America will submit to Sharia law:

GAFFNEY: I think what he is using is code -- ... When he uses the word "respect," in the context of a waist-bow to the king of Saudi Arabia, for example, and talks about respectful language, which is code for those who adhere to Sharia that we will submit to Sharia. We will submit to the kind of program --

SHUSTER: We have to know the code? We all have to know the code to understand how we’re making ourselves more vulnerable? ....

GAFFNEY: I'm telling you the code as they receive it in the Taliban headquarters and in al Qaeda's cave and in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They perceive this as submission.

This is a guy who suggested in January 2003 that President Bush sell an Iraq war by saying in the State of the Union address that Saddam might have been behind the Oklahama City bombing, as well as the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993. Despite the fact that this Laurie Mylroie theory has been thoroughly debunked, Gaffney was still pushing it earlier this month.

Oh, and he's an Obama birther, too:

Another question yet to be resolved is whether Mr. Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States, a prerequisite pursuant to the U.S. Constitution. There is evidence Mr. Obama was born in Kenya rather than, as he claims, Hawaii.

Though I think it's been a while since he recommended the destruction of Al Jazeera by the U.S. military.

How crazy do your ideas have to be to be too crazy for mainstream television, if you're right-wing?
