"LOVE BOMBS"
Former Democratic consultant Frank Wilkinson wrote this in last Saturday's New York Times:
... the right-wing attack machine ... has grown curiously quiet of late.
... on Tuesday, John McCain seized victory in the Republican primary in New Hampshire after a campaign essentially devoid of attacks on Democrats....
Could Hillary Clinton retool her image and campaign to prevail against a Republican who attacks with love bombs instead of wedge issues? ...
When Wilkinson says "love bombs," you don't suppose he means things like this, at John McCain's campaign site, do you?
(Click to enlarge. You have to pick the correct answer to question #1 to get this, of course.)
I was led to this by a Google ad at this New York Sun story. You might get different ads, but at one point this morning I got two McCain ads -- a "trippy"-looking link to the Hillary game, plus an animation ad that looks like this:
Hmmm, what do our reptile brains associate with crystal balls? Old crones who tell fortunes? The Wicked Witch of the West? Naaah, no sexism there.
****
UPDATE: Slate notes that McCain is planning to re-air his Woodstock TV ad, which originally ran in New Hampshire in October.
