Many liberals who expressed admiration for Andrew Cuomo last spring have turned against him. Conservatives are happy about this, right? Nahhh.

For Cuomo-hating conservatives, it's not good enough that we're now bashing him -- as far as they're concerned, we're not allowed to do that unless we bash him for the right reason, which, in their opinion, is his handling of COVID cases in nursing homes.

Never mind the fact that a report from New York State's Democratic attorney general -- the very AG many Trump haters hope will bring him to justice -- got the nursing home story back in the headlines.

Breitbart's John Nolte has one of the more baroque theories: He thinks the Cuomo sexual harassment scandal is meant to cover up other governors' misdeeds.
In a just world not plagued by a fake and corrupt media, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) would be on the edge of resigning his office today, not over a handful of times he allegedly got aggressive with women, but over his sociopathic executive order that required nursing homes to accept patients still infected with the coronavirus....

But instead of being pressured to resign over that, he’s being hit with perfectly-timed allegations of sexual misconduct, two involving former staffers, one involving a complete stranger he met at a wedding....

So what’s going on? ...

The answer is obvious...

Four other Democrat governors issued the same sociopathic nursing home order as Cuomo....

Democrats must be protected at all costs, even if the cost is thousands and thousands of lives.
Yes, because Nolte, like most right-wingers, believes that the mainstream news media operates as a pure tool of ideology and uses fake news as a weapon, he assumes we've invented a scandal in New York to protect Democratic governors nationwide. This assumes that there are no news organizations in other states, so news about New York's governor gets more attention than news about their own. Sure, that makes sense.

One problem right-wingers are having is that they don't like us maintaining a consistent standard on sexual misconduct. If we turn on a Democrat for sexual misdeeds, that gives the lie to their insistence that we're relentless ideologues who have no other goals than partisan combat in pursuit of permanent one-party domination of America.

Also, they're rather vulnerable in this area. The head of their party is a confessed sex predator. Their top wunderkind, Madison Cawthorn, looks like a next-gen Trump.

So don't tell your right-wing relatives that you're disgusted by Cuomo. It's not the right kind of disgust.
