PALIN, BESTED BY A BLUE BLOOD

George W. H.W. Bush praised Mitt Romney and wife Bar said she hopes Sarah Palin doesn't leave Alaska, so Palin shot back with a snippy remark about "blue bloods" who don't like her. The skirmish has now moved to bookshops, where Palin's America by Heart went on sale last week, in direct competition with George W's Decision Points.

It looks as if blue blood won this round.

The new New York Times bestseller list just went out via e-mail, and Palin's book failed to reach #1 on the hardcover nonfiction list -- it's #2, behind Decision Points, which hangs on in the top spot even though it's been out two weeks longer and sold its millionth copy sometime last week.

Bush is also still #1 at Amazon, while Palin's book, among all books, is #26 (behind even Obama's kids' book!).

Have we already experienced Peak Palin? And gosh, whatever happened to the notion that Republicans "lost their way" during the Bush years? As I said a few weeks ago, is George W. Bush the new Sarah Palin -- the new GOP superstar?
