Memo to Barack Obama (and all other Democrats): Stop talking about talking about religion.

In case it's not obvious, that wasn't a typo -- I mean that Democrats should stop declaring in interviews, "We need to talk about religion." Talk religion if it comes naturally to you (see: Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton), but talking about talking about religion is like proclaiming to the nation, in effect, "We have a strategic need to be perceived as religious." That feeds into all the mainstream deunciations of Democrats as "inauthentic" and "not knowing what they stand for." This is not a discussion that needs to take place in the press.
