ON JULY 4, TOWNHALL'S SCHLICHTER CALLS FOR OPEN REVOLT AGAINST THE GOVERNMENT -- SORT OF

On major patriotic holidays, it's traditional for wingnut commentators to make grandiose, can-you-top-this? professions of loyalty to their country. Not any more, apparently. Today, Townhall's Kurt Schlichter celebrates the Fourth of July by calling for a rebellion against the government.



Sometimes in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another. It is high time to declare our personal independence from any remnant of obligation to those who have spit upon the rule of law. We owe them nothing -- not respect, not loyalty, not obedience.

Think about it. If you are out driving at 3 a.m., do you stop at a stop sign when there’s no one coming? Of course you do. You don’t need a cop to be there to make you stop. You do it voluntarily because this is America and America is a country where obeying the law is the right thing to do because the law was justly made and is justly applied. Or it used to be.

The law mattered. It applied equally to everyone.... There was once a time where you could imagine a Democrat scandal where the media actually called for the head of the Democrat instead of deploying to cover it up.
Yeah, remember when the media circled the wagons and refused to run a single story about the scandals surrounding Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer, or Rod Blagojevich? It's appalling how the press wielded its power to keep those sleazebags in office.
The idea of the rule of law today is a lie. There is no law. There is no justice. There are only lies....

Only power matters, and Hillary stands ready to accumulate more power on their behalf so their oaths, their alleged principles, their duty to the country -- all of it goes out the window. But it’s much worse than just one scandal that seems not to scandalize anyone in the elite. Just read the Declaration of Independence -- it’s almost like those dead white Christian male proto-NRA members foresaw and cataloged the myriad oppressions of liberalism’s current junior varsity tyranny.
Yes, recall the way President Obama has repeatedly "called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures," or "dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly," or "kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures." What a tyrant!
Who is standing against this? Not the judges. The Constitution? Meh. Why should their personal agendas be constrained by some sort of foundational document? Judges find rights that don’t appear in the text and gut ones that do. Just ask a married gay guy in Los Angeles who can’t carry a concealed weapons to protect himself from [OMITTED] radicals.
Schlichter, I should remind you, responded to the Paris terrorist attacks by vowing to personally defend his hometown of Manhattan Beach, California, against foreign fighters:


The politicians won’t stand against this. The Democrats support allowing the government to jail people for criticizing politicians...
Schlichter's link goes to a report saying that Hillary Clinton opposes the Citizens United decision. I've searched it in vain for references to imprisonment.
It’s not a social contract anymore -- American society today is a suicide pact we never agreed to and yet we’re expected to go first.

I say “No.”

We owe them nothing -- not respect, not loyalty, not obedience. Nothing.

We make it easy for them by going along. We make it simple by defaulting to the old rules. But there are no rules anymore, certainly none that morally bind us once we are outside the presence of some government worker with a gun to force our compliance. There is only will and power and we must rediscover our own.
And therefore -- what? Armed insurrection? A campaign of anti-government terror? What's the plan, Kurt?
If there is no cop sitting right there, then there is nothing to make you stop at that stop sign tonight.
Really? That's the plan? Violate traffic laws when no one is looking? That will bring the fascist oppressors to their knees?

Schlichter has a lot of guns, and a lot of bluster, but he doesn't have the balls even to say that right-wingers should engage in any sort of insurrection, or protest, or even stop paying taxes to what he deems an utterly illegitimate government. He wants to playact at being a revolutionary, but he has too soft a life to deliver thios message as if he really mean it.

So run that red light on that abandoned road in the middle of the night, patriot! That'll stick it to the Man!

Just once I would like to see one of these keyboard commandos try to insurrect against a platoon of our armed forces just back from, say, Afghanistan.

It would, of course, only happen once.

But, more seriously what everyone seems to not quite get is that right-wing domestic terrorist organizations (e.g. The OAthbreakers, the Unconstitutional Sheriffs of America, the III Inchers) don't believe they will take done the full weight of the US Armed Forces. They expect to be the Vanguard, the first militias around which the majority of the Armed Forces coalesce to overthrow Dictator Obama or Dictator Hitlery (date dependent).

There's a stop sign just around the corner from my house, I've never stopped for it, even in daylight. Been there forty years, never stopped.

I don't know what's funnier, the idea that Usama binDead of liver failure since December 2001 obits were published around the world and his gang of born again gay Mexican Muslim Mormons would invade Manhattan Beach California and rape all the (white) women and steal all the jobs, or the thought of these bozos pointing their pop-guns at the US Army.

It's getting to the point where this government is going to have to draw the line on this kind of bullshit. There is plenty of precedent for it. They can start by enforcing the law on federal lands right in the belly of the beast. Send in the national guard to round or shoot the rest of Bundy's feral, tick-eaten cattle. Any armed sovereign citizens in the vicinity who feel up to the challenge to be shot on sight. Lets see how many of these yayhoos want to "feed the tree of liberty." If the jails get too full, releasing Leonard Peltier would free up one cell. My suggestion to Hillary if and when she gets in, fire the first general who disrespects her. Do it publicly, brazenly and as humiliatingly as possible.

PS: I can hardly wait to read about how, late on night, this douche-canoe decided to run a stop sign, and got t-boned to death by a drunk in a car who forgot to turn on his lights.

I lived in Manhattan Beach for a while, and I can tell you this: if a single car can make it through a gridlocked intersection before the light turns red, it would make the evening news.

His metaphors are worse than his thinking, and that's saying something.

People like Schlichter do more harm to the public's confidence in the military with 1000 words than any liberal critic could do with a book.

I lettered in junior varsity tyranny. When the stop sign ignorers come - and they will come - we will take all their clothing and make them sing the Barney song at Chipmunk voice speed, for the amusement of the town fathers.
