Preach, brother!

Kid Rock at Inaugural 'Shocking'

A scheduled appearance by vulgar rock-rapper Kid Rock at a Bush inauguration concert hosted by Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara has shocked conservative supporters....

According to Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association, the White House has sent a shocking statement to the millions of families who supported his re-election.

"Kid Rock is an inexcusable choice,” Wildmon said. "His music lyrics serve to teach our young men to disrespect women in a most vile, self serving manner. There's no compassionate conservatism in that philosophy.”

"Obviously, someone on the Presidential Inauguration Committee has made an extremely poor judgment call. The Committee should cancel this invitation immediately,” Wildmon said....

And from WorldNetDaily, there's this:

Kid Rock too vulgar for inauguration?

...The Detroit-based rapper, who dedicated his first album to songs about oral sex and who was voted the Sluttiest Male Celebrity at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards, will perform Jan. 18 at the Washington, D.C., Armory in a concert hosted by Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara....

"Anybody that knows anything about Kid Rock knows that his music is disgusting and vile, and Republicans, and most certainly the Christian Republicans that got Bush re-elected, should be appalled by this," WND reader Dave Parker commented. "At best, it is a horrible oversight by a clueless event organizer. At worst, it is a slap in the face to all who voted for Bush with the belief that he is a more moral person than Kerry." ...

Kid Rock's first album, "Grit Sandwiches for Breakfast," fixates on oral sex, including one song, "Yo Da Lin In The Valley," that describes the lyricist's exploits with multiple women in detail. Another similar tune is "Wax the Booty."

Also featured on his 1990 debut album is "Pimp of the Nation," which ironically takes a swipe at Bush's mother. The lyrics include:

Pimp of the Nation, I could be it
As a matter of a fact, I foresee it
But only pimpin' hoes with the big tush
While you be left pimpin' Barbara Bush

...According to an online bio, "Kid Rock is noted for his use of adult film stars when he performs (nude when he can get away with it), as Kobe Tai and Jenna Jameson have danced on stage while Kid does his thing."

After reading some of Kid Rock's lyrics, Randy Thomasson, president of Campaign for Children and Families, was outraged the rapper would be a part of the president's festivities.

"I just read Kid Rock's sexually explicit lyrics and feel ashamed and dirty for even looking at his songs," he told WND. "If this sex-crazed animal, whose favorite word is the F-word, is allowed to sing at Bush's inauguration this will send a clear message to pro-family Americans that the Republican Party has taken them for a ride and ditched them in the gutter." ...

Now, if there really were a "liberal media" that worked with the same if-your-enemy's-drowning-throw-him-an-anvil efficiency as the right-wing media, liberal talk-show hosts would have been working this story ever since it broke. There'd be faux-solemn outrage at the choice of Kid Rock, accompanied by prurient collections of Kid Rock clips; on TV, the most lascivious lyrics would be flashed across the screen in phony typewriter fonts. Conservative preachers would be invited onto these talk shows (day after day after day) to denounce the choice of the Kid. All this to make Bush seem like just another out-of-touch elitist who's soft on sleaze and decadence.

Of course, the "liberal media" doesn't really have any shows that work this way -- no O'Reilly Factor, no Hannity & Colmes, no Scarborough Country. So the Bushies will probably just quietly rescind the invitation on a Friday at 4:30, and most of America won't even know it was extended.

UPDATE: Whoops -- almost missed this, from the New York Daily News, in which Wildmon has an interesting gloss on that Barbara Bush lyric:

"Boy," Wildmon admonished. "Where I come from, you talk about my mama like that, those are fightin' words. Shooting words!"

What would Jesus do? This! Taste hot lead, Kid!

********

But my goodness -- here's another sign that the Bush White House hates Jesus!

Secret Service To Prohibit Cross Displays At Bush Inauguration

Public display of crosses at President George W. Bush's Inaugural Parade on January 20 will be prohibited, according to a letter sent to the National Park Service by the U.S. Secret Service last month....

The Christian Defense Coalition was granted one of these permits on December 23, 2004 to hold a prayer vigil and demonstration at the Inaugural Parade, but its director was appalled that they would not be allowed to display any crosses at this event.

"By prohibiting the public display of crosses at the Inauguration Parade, the Secret Service has trampled the First Amendment and crushed religious freedom in the public square," remarked Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition. "Simply put, it is religious bigotry and censorship."

It should be noted, of course, that, according to this letter, items banned at the inaugural festivities include

props, folding chairs, bicycles, displays such as puppets, papier mache objects, coffins, crates, crosses, theaters, cages and statues

not to mention firearms, ammunition, explosives, weapons, aerosols, supports for signs and placards, packages, coolers, thermal or glass containers, backpacks, bags exceeding size restrictions, laser pointers, animals other than helper/guide dogs, structures, and any other items determined to be a potential safety hazard.

No matter -- Reverend Patrick Mahoney of the CDC is pissed:

"We want to make it clear that we will be on the public sidewalks holding crosses at the Inauguration Parade even if that means risking arrest and jail," Mahoney contended.

How much do you want to bet that if this guy does succeed in getting arrested, it'll be blamed on the ACLU?
