You probably already know a fair amount about the alleged Vegas cop killers:
Hours after a man and woman killed two police officers at an east Las Vegas pizza restaurant and then gunned down another victim at a nearby Wal-Mart before killing themselves, a picture of the shooters began to emerge.

Residents at an apartment complex where it appeared the two lived together said they had a reputation for spouting racist, anti-government views, bragging about their gun collection and boasting that they’d spent time at Cliven Bundy's ranch during a recent standoff there between armed militia members and federal government agents.

The couple was identified this morning as Jerad and Amanda Miller, according to the Lafayette Journal and Courier newspaper.

According to one police official and a witness, one of the shooters shouted, “This is a revolution” and “We are freedom fighters.”

The duo also told people they planned to commit a mass shooting, said Brandon Moore, a resident of the complex.

"They were handing out white-power propaganda and were talking about doing the next Columbine," Moore said.
You probably know that they covered the cops' bodies with a "Don't Tread on Me" Gadsden flag favored by teabaggers.

But they were a bit fringier than the typical teabagger -- though not much fringier than the typical Alex Jones fan.

Jim Holt of Gateway Pundit, the stupidest man on the Internet, has called the Millers socialists. Wonkette does a good job of demolishing that claim using entries from Jerad Miller's Facebook page.

Now, let me tell you about Jerad's preferred candidate for governor. His name is David Lory VanDerBeek, and he's running as the candidate of the Independent American Party -- the same party Cliven Bundy joined when he recently quit the GOP . We know that Jerad Miller was a supporter because he said so in the comments of this thread at (title of the the thread: "The Democrats Are Running a Hispanic, Former Gang Member, Car Thief and Baby Killer and 'They Love Her'"):

He also wrote the following last year in response to a blog post by VanDerBeek himself written in opposition to genetically modified foods:

(Oh crap -- he opposes GMOs. That's going to make Holt even more certain that he's a socialist.)

Here's some information on VanDerBeek, from Raw Story:
The marriage and family therapist believes President Barack Obama ordered the Sandy Hook massacre to implement psychological evaluations for gun owners, just as he believes all terrorist attacks have been carried out by government agents to strip Americans of their liberties.

The married father of five dares Obama to place him on the "White House kill list" in one 34-minute video, which outlines 25 alleged crimes committed by the president that should result in his impeachment or conviction for treason.

"Mr. Obama, here is the bottom line," VanDerBeek says in the video. "You and I are not compatible to live under the same government. It is clear that your mission is to destroy the United States constitutional government. My mission is therefore to emasculate your presidency. You will not retire in luxury, Mr. Obama. You will lose everything that you've stolen and you will spend the rest of your life in jail, so enjoy your million-dollar vacations now, because your current lifestyle will come to an abrupt end."

... He also supports the idea of military action to take over Mexican borderlands....
Y'know -- typical socialist.

Here's VanDerBeek at the Daily Sheeple warning of a FEMA "zombie virus" attack on the 2013 Boy Scout Jamboree:
I have been on the phone with two reliable sources connected with military and a well known private investigative network. The military source decided to come forward because of the Boston bombing and the evidence that it was staged by the FBI. The source provided information regarding a July FEMA mass casualty terror drill that has been kept a secret from the public.... The source indicated that we need to scrutinize the National Scout Jamboree 2013 for a possible mass government staged false flag attack....

The leaders of the event are changing the location of the event for the first time in 30 years. Governor Earl Ray Tomblin of West Virginia has signed an executive order giving DHS, FEMA, and the national guard martial law police power over the event.

... The source provided notes from a government source that FEMA is preparing an unannounced disease outbreak drill caused by conventional and unconventional terrorism in July with 4:1 ratio of mental and “sick” and stated that this drill was scheduled to be held at the Jamboree. Unconventional terrorism is chemical and germ weapons. There will be killed and wounded family members involving sociogenic illness which means that a medical condition will be shared by a mass of people. They will have multiple unexplained physical symptoms. There will be no clear start or stop to the event that will be long term inciting panic and mistrust of public officials. Being at this reserve, the scouts would be in the perfect location to rationalize a quarantine....

Other titles onVanDerBeek's YouTube page suggest a mix of Alex Jones-ism and mainstream wingnuttery:
* "FEMA Zombie Rabies Flu Contagion Coverup"
* "IRS Targeted TSA Whistleblower"
* "Obama's Foodstamp Hostage Nation"
* "Putin a Greater American Patriot Than Obama"
* "US Government Creating Human Hybrid Soldiers Animal DNA"

Bonus: VanDerBeek's campaign site and Twitter feed.

Ultimately, I blame Alex Jones for fomenting this particular strain of insanity more than I blame Fox News or the GOP. Jones is like a mad psychologist who thinks the proper way to deal with paranoid schizophrenics is to pump them full of hallucinogens, then testify before government authorities that the schizophrenics are perfectly sane and ought to be able to own all the guns they can afford. It's not funny anymore. Alex Jones is a menace to society. (You remember that Tamerlan Tsarnaev was an Alex Jones fan, right?)

"The marriage and family therapist..."

I guess ANYone can hang-up a shingle, and council whomever s/he wants!
Even a loon.

Remember back in the day, Steve, when we were younger, that conspiracy theorists speculated on dubious, but at least semi-sensible, subjects like Pearl Harbor, and the assassinations of JFK, MLK Jr, and RFK?
And they presented some "evidence" that supported their position(s).

Even the 9/11 loons tried to make sense of their beliefs.

Meanwhile, everyone ignored the run-up to the Iraq War.

But since President Obama got elected, any and every thing is some sort of a conspiracy to these loons!

From an old UN resolution, to Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi, to Chelsea Clinton's expecting a baby, to whatever Obama did or said today.

Nucking futs!!!

Just saw CNN's story on TV about the Las Vegas killings. The person shot in Walmart was a man, not a woman. He had a permit and was concealed carrying, and tried to confront Jerad Miller. Miller's wife shot him dead.

So much for the NRA fever dream of a good guy stopping a bad guy.
