SOME FORTHCOMING BOOKS

As reported by the subscription-only PublishersLunch:

* ... Matthew Continetti's THE PERSECUTION OF SARAH PALIN, a defense of the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate, portraying her as unfairly demonized by the media, the Democrats, and her own campaign, to [be published by] Sentinel....

Interesting match of author and subject: Palin's an alleged self-starting bootstrapper, a pol who was once "just" a PTA mom/hockey mom ... while Continetti is a cosseted youth who's been carefully mentored by Bill Kristol, Fred Barnes, and a host of other polysyllabic rightists. (Continetti's publisher, Sentinel, is major-league, of course -- it's the right-wing imprint of Penguin. Nothing but the best for this bright young lad.)

And yes, Kristol and Barnes have been crushin' on Palin for a long time, so it's likely that Continetti's book will be informed by their love jones.

* U.S. Senator Jim DeMint's SAVING FREEDOM: We Can Stop America's Slide Into Socialism, providing readers with inspiration and an action plan for restoring freedom in America in the wake of the explosion of federal government spending that is ushering in a new age of American socialism, positioning the federal government as the manager and part owner of almost every aspect of private life, to [be published by] Fidelis....

Yes, just what we need right now -- a book from Senator Jim "Only Tax Cuts Count as Stimulus" DeMint.

Fidelis, by the way, seems to be Ollie North's publishing company. And speaking of the 1980s, there's also this:

* ... Margot Morrell's REAGAN'S WAY: Leadership Lessons from the Great Communicator, to [be published by] Viking Penguin, for publication in 2011 -- the Reagan Centennial year....

Yes, it's true -- in two years, the wingnuts are going to indulge themselves in even more Reagan nostalgia. I can't wait!
