APPARENTLY IT'S OK FOR RIGHT-WINGERS TO CALL AN AD HONORING DEAD U.S. SOLDIERS "STUPID"

John McCain has a new ad in which he pays tribute to deceased Vietnam veterans -- and Ed Morrissey of Hot Air has declared it "monumentally stupid."

Jim Geraghty of National Review very much agrees.

... Um, I probably should have mentioned a detail that apparently makes it OK to attack this ad -- it's about dead Hispanic veterans, and current Hispanic troops who aren't all citizens. You see, it's an ad by the good John McCain, the one who once supported a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, and who threw himself under the bus a while back, but appears now to have extricated himself:

If prominent online lefties were -- for any reason -- using the word "stupid" to refer to an ad that panned the Wall and talked about Vietnam veterans who'd died in action (assuming the ad met with Republicans' favor), we'd hear howls from here to Rush Limbaugh's bunker and back again, wouldn't we? But it's OK, as usual, if you're a Republican.
