The Fake News hates me saying that they are the Enemy of the People only because they know it’s TRUE. I am providing a great service by explaining this to the American People. They purposely cause great division & distrust. They can also cause War! They are very dangerous & sick!

I responded:
Am I paranoid if I suspect that "They can also cause War!" was suggested by an aide who knows it'll appeal to Glenn Greenwald and other anti-anti-Trump lefties? https://t.co/pmI2sJ97pt

And as if on cue, Glenn Greenwald tweeted:
We're going to spend the morning pretending that the US media didn't play a vital role in spreading the lies that led to the worst political crime of this generation: the invasion & destruction of Iraq? Or the worst crime of the prior generation: Vietnam? Or multiple other wars?
— Glenn Greenwald (@ggreenwald) August 5, 2018
Read Greenwald's entire thread. (Hat tip: Tom Hilton.) He makes some valid points, although I primarily blame the Bush administration for lying us into the Iraq War (with, to be sure, a great deal of assistance from the media).
In any event, I now strongly suspect that that sentence in the tweet was intended as a dog whistle to the useful idiots of the liberal-hating left. I don't believe Trump knows enough about them to have added the sentence on his own. But someone on his team understands, and the phrase connected as intended.
