ERIC CANTOR'S LAPDOG WEEK

Mike Huckabee criticizes Cantor's new GOP "rebranding" group, the National Council for a New America, May 6:

I am very disappointed that one of the initial comments from the group was that we need to "get past Reagan.". Frankly the party was in pretty good shape then and can be again, but Ronald Reagan didn't summarily dismiss Values Voters like this new group of "experts" has by not listing any of the issues that still matter to many of those common Americans this group wants to listen to.

Cantor caves in an interview with Ben Domenech, May 7:

The National Council for a New America, which launched on Saturday, is organized around the purpose of beginning a conversation.... It's very much following in the model of what Ronald Reagan said we needed to do as a party.

This has been quite a week of lapdoggery for Cantor. Earlier in the week he was Limbaugh's lapdog:

Cantor, May 3, talking on CNN about the GOP's new "rebranding" group, the National Council for a New America:

... what we're trying to do here today is kick off a series of town hall forums so that we can get back to listening to the people....

That's what these forums are going to be about, about listening to how we tap into the real challenges and how we allow opportunity to flourish again.

Rush Limbaugh, May 4:

Look, folks, it's this simple. We do not need a listening tour. We need a teaching tour.

Cantor, May 6, on Joe Scarborough's show:

You know, Joe, really, this -- this is not a listening tour.

Of course, everybody in the GOP caves to Limbaugh. But Cantor's caving to Huckabee?

If there are any Republicans out there, here's my advice: go attack Cantor. Maybe he'll cave to you, too.
