A QUESTION FOR MADISON CAWTHORN (updated)

For all the good it will do...
The House on Wednesday censured GOP Rep. Paul Gosar and stripped him of his committee assignments for posting an anime video that depicted him killing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and swinging swords at President Joe Biden.

The resolution passed in a 223-207-1 vote. Only two Republicans joined every Democrat in voting for the measure.
The two Republicans were Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, of course.

Gosar is not exactly chastened:

This is great for him. He could probably declare his candidacy for governor or senator in Arizona right now and clear the GOP primary field.

Callow brat Madison Cawthorn has Gosar's back -- but for him it's a matter of principle, don't you know.

Okay, fine, Congressman. Now, we all know you're in a wheelchair. So let's imagine that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted an anime video in which she kicked your wheelchair down a flight of stairs with you in it, then machine-gunned you to death. You cool with that or nah?

Of course, she would never do that. Unlike young Cawthorn -- and Congressman Gosar, who is not so young (he turns 63 later this month) -- AOC is an adult.

Kevin McCarthy threatened vengeance:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) pledged to strip several Democrats of their committee assignments if Republicans succeed in taking control of the House next year.
I assume Republicans will strip Ilhan Omar of her committee assignments on Day One if they take over. McCarthy put a target on her back in the summer:
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is vowing to bar progressive Rep. Ilhan Omar — “or anybody that has an anti-semitic, anti-American view” — from serving on the powerful House Committee on Foreign Affairs if Republicans take back the majority in 2022....
I assume the entire Squad will be targeted. And McCarthy won't exempt all white males, as we learned in March:
House Democrats defeated an attempt by Republican leader Kevin McCarthy of Bakersfield to remove Rep. Eric Swalwell from the Intelligence Committee on Thursday....

McCarthy has attacked Swalwell over a report last year that the FBI told him in 2015 that a woman who had helped raise funds for his campaign was suspected of being a Chinese spy. Swalwell broke off contact with the woman after the briefing and was not accused of wrongdoing.
In 2023, when mainstream pundit tut-tut that the GOP attacks on Democrats happened only because Democrats went after Gosar, remember that McCarthy and the rest of the party targeted these Congress members well before Gosar posted that video.

So Democrats should get in their licks while they can. Lauren Boebert should be censured for slander next.

I assume nothing will happen to her. Democrats won't want to be seen defending Omar. But they should.

UPDATE: How unchastened is Paul Gosar? Here's your answer:

Republicanism is basically oppositional defiant disorder.
