Has Donald Trump finally gone
too far?
Former President Donald Trump ... call[ed] Hezbollah “very smart” hours after the Lebanon-based terror group fired missiles at Israeli troops.
During a rally in West Palm Beach, Fla., Trump ... claimed the Biden administration and Israeli officials had publicly pointed out the vulnerabilities of the Jewish state, speculating that those comments encouraged Hezbollah.
“Two nights ago, I read all of Biden’s security people, can you imagine, national defense people, and they said, ‘Gee, I hope Hezbollah doesn’t attack from the north, because that’s the most vulnerable spot,’” Trump told the crowd. “I said, ‘Wait a minute.’ You know, Hezbollah is very smart. They’re all very smart.”
For this, Trump is being criticized by
the Biden administration, a
minister in the Israeli government, and, as Fox News reports,
Ron DeSantis:
"Terrorists have murdered at least 1,200 Israelis and 22 Americans and are holding more hostage, so it is absurd that anyone, much less someone running for President, would choose now to attack our friend and ally, Israel, much less praise Hezbollah terrorists as ‘very smart.’" DeSantis wrote on X, formerly Twitter, late Wednesday.
So will this be the remark that finally alienates Trump's fans? To judge from the Fox comments section, of course not (and frankly, some of these people are right to note that Trump's remarks weren't necessarily praise, although I should also point out that many of the commenters can't tell Hamas and Hezbollah apart, any more than right-wingers could tell bin Laden and Saddam apart twenty years ago):
If they’re smart, they’re smart. The warning is don’t underestimate your enemy. Better to assume they’re smart and plan accordingly.

Admitting that your enemy is smart is not the same a praising them. It is just realizing that we need to be smarter. And by the way, every one of America's enemies is smarter than joe biden, so Trump really said nothing of consequence. He merely stated the obvious....

... amazing how people can twist words to suit their purpose. Terrorist organizations would not last as long as they do, funnel millions through multiple companies and move sleeper agents into countries to coordinate attacks if they were not smart. It is an acknowledgement of a fact and I'm surprised Ron would use this trifling statement to try to attack Trump on, when Trump did what Obama could not -- obliterate ISIS!

Wow! DeSantis just lost my support. Nothing Trump said was wrong. You can't downplay their recent success. It was completely unexpected and coordinated. Yes, their leaders are relatively smart people that have been able to convince millions of supporters that their cause is worthy. They are obviously smarter than some of our congressmen and woman that have drank the kool-aid and refuse to condemn their actions.

Some people don't understand Trump. That is the problem, not what Trump said. They are unfortunately not alone in their misunderstanding of Trump.
Maybe after his second term, they will start to figure him out better.

Desantis has turned into a full time politician. The fact is they were smart in taking advantage of an administration that is weak and has very low polling among it's voters. DeSantis would have been smarter to just shut up on that point or he just may be angry because Trump pointed it out before he did.

Trump has no problem calling it like he sees it. Desantis wants to sugar coat it. The terrrorists were smart, they were able to invade without detection, force bomb horns to come on, that would make people go into shelter and could be easily killed by Hamas.

... "Smart" does not equate to "good." Hamas/Iran were "smart" to attack when they did because the US has now has a demented figurehead as PINO and a shadow president who supports them.

Trump had it right...Trump has it right. Anyone who believes Joe Biden and his national socialist democrat regime care about the United States' citizens, the country or our magnificent Constitution and Bill of Rights...has been asleep these past 2 years or is completely brain dead. I still voting for President Trump.
