Argh! Make it stop!

Biden says White House bid more likely

Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., ended 2005 with $3 million in his campaign war chest -- enough money, he said, to push ahead with a potential White House bid.

"It's no secret that I'm considering a presidential run," Biden said in a statement Tuesday. "What we did in 2005 gives me a strong level of comfort that we can take this to the next level."...

He said the amount raised "exceeded our goals," even though he ended the year with less money than many other Democratic hopefuls in the crowded 2008 field.

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., for example, raised more money in the last three months of 2005 -- $6 million -- than Biden raised all year....

I guess he figures the Alito hearings were a resounding success -- especially in the eyes of likely Democratic primary voters -- so this is a great time to make his '08 intentions explicit.

(Joe, I'm being sarcastic.)

Whatever the hell he's thinking, it apparently explains why Newsweek/MSNBC is running a story from a Democratic consultant arguing that Biden is the party's best shot.

(I wonder how much of Biden's inadequate war chest that story cost.)

I really think Biden is the real-world version of the boss played by Steve Carell on the American version of The Office. Think about it -- both of them regard themselves as highly competent and incredibly entertaining to be with; in fact, they're both terrible at what they do and they're both unbearably boorish, especially when trying to be lighthearted and funny.

Well, who cares? Let him try. Think of it as Joementum Part II.
