In The Hill, scorned weasel Dick Morris argues that "Bush can destroy Kerry fast" by attacking the "liberal extremism" of his record. Conventional wisdom says that's just what Bush is going to try to do. There's just one problem: As Timothy Carney points out in National Review Online, citing this list of Kerry votes at GOP.com, Kerry's record isn't a whole lot more liberal than -- well, I'll let Carney tell you for himself:

The RNC website shows that John Kerry has voted to gut the Bush tax cuts, extend "hate crimes" special treatment to homosexuals, keep cloning legal, block tort reform, kill school choice, cut defense spending, oppose parental-notification rules for minors getting abortions and sink the nomination of Judge Robert Bork.

With this catalogue of votes, the RNC makes Kerry look as radical as...well...Arlen Specter.

On all of the above votes, taken from the short list of the lowlights of John Kerry's record, Arlen Specter voted with John Kerry. But the Republican establishment is backing Specter, still.

Of the 26 very worst Kerry votes the RNC could find from 1985 until 2001, Specter voted wrong on 10.

The Republicans keep saying, "Wait till we tell the American people about Kerry's record." If this is what they're planning to tell us, I think I understand why Joshua Micah Marshall wrote this:

Another source of confidence I have stems from a briefing of sorts I heard last week summarizing the White House's outlook and strategy for the coming campaign. After hearing it, I came away thinking that they're in a serious state of denial about how this election is shaping up.
