IOWA WAITRESS IS CURIOUSLY UNABLE TO HATE THE MOST EVIL HUMAN BEING WHO EVER LIVED

If you've been following the story of Anita Esterday, the Iowa waitress who (according to an NPR story) didn't get tipped by Hillary Clinton's party, you should note, in addition to the quote flagged by Atrios --

"You people are really nuts," she told a reporter during a phone interview. "There's kids dying in the war, the price of oil right now -- there's better things in this world to be thinking about than who served Hillary Clinton at Maid-Rite and who got a tip and who didn't get a tip."

-- the fact that, as an NPR editor's note reminds us, the waitress

told NPR she's considering voting for Clinton

which is still true, according to NPR's David Greene in a follow-up report this morning (audio at the above link):

I called her back yesterday to see if we had her story right, and she stressed to me again she's not angry at Hillary Clinton -- in fact she might vote for her, she told me....

It must be nice to be, say, Matt Drudge -- to be the kind of person who rarely has to deal with people of higher status than yourself, so you can reasonably expect most people in your world to be polite and deferential to you. This waitress lives in the real world, where that's not the case, so she doesn't take this tip business personally.
