If the couple [Ivanka and Jared Kushner] return to Manhattan, there could be an opportunity to run for the 12th Congressional District, which covers parts of the Upper East Side, against Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney (D-N.Y.), who narrowly defeated a primary challenger to hang on to her seat, [a] person close to the couple noted.Maloney did have a tough primary against Suraj Patel, a lawyer and business school professor who identifies himself as an Obama Democrat. But in the general election, Maloney won 82% of the vote against her challenger, who was a Republican -- which is what Ivanka is now. And in Manhattan, Ivanka's father won just 12% of the vote -- Joe Biden won 87%. The entire borough is Democratic now, even the posh parts of the East Side. How do you write about politics and not know that?
This seems like a better idea if Ivanka wants to run for office:
She could always move to Staten Island and start her career there...

Yup -- Trump beat Biden on Staten Island 57%-42%.
It's perfect. It's 36% Italian. I know my people -- we love tall blondes. I think Ivanka should make Staten Island her power base. They love Rudy Giuliani there, too. Maybe he can help her kick off her political career.
