MOVE OVER, RAND AND RON PAUL: HERMAN CAIN WOULDN'T HAVE SIGNED THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1964

Think Progress reports:

EXCLUSIVE: Herman Cain Pledges Not To Sign Any Bill Longer Than Three Pages

GOP presidential contender and former pizza executive Herman Cain roused conservative audience members yesterday at his appearance in Pella, Iowa. During his address for the Iowa Family Leader, Cain ... said the tipping point in his decision to run for president came when Obama signed legislation overhauling and reforming the health care system.... Cain seemed especially concerned with the length of the bill. After claiming that the administration had not read the bill, Cain promised the audience that as President, he would never sign pieces of legislation that are longer than three pages.
CAIN: Engage the people. Don’t try to pass a 2,700 page bill — and even they didn’t read it! You and I didn’t have time to read it. We’re too busy trying to live — send our kids to school. That’s why I am only going to allow small bills — three pages. You’ll have time to read that one over the dinner table. What does Herman Cain, President Cain talking about in this particular bill?

Know how long the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was? Go take a look at the text. I'll wait.

I put it into a double-spaced Word document in 12-point Times Roman and it came out to 53 pages. Even single-spaced and in 1-point type, it's four pages.

Whoops! Herman Cain wouldn't have signed it!

Cain was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 13, 1945. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia in the mid-1960s. I'm sure he was not unaware of Jim Crow in his youth. But, hell, he still wouldn't have signed the Civil Rights Act, because it's a matter of principle. He has priorities.
