MAYBE THE RETIRED MILITARY OFFICERS ARE ALL KENYAN MUSLIM NAZIS, TOO

All day, Fox Nation has been pushing this story, originally from The Washington Post:

The Food and Drug Administration is planning an unprecedented effort to gradually reduce the salt consumed each day by Americans, saying that less sodium in everything from soup to nuts would prevent thousands of deaths from hypertension and heart disease. The initiative, to be launched this year, would eventually lead to the first legal limits on the amount of salt allowed in food products....

The Post's headline is "FDA Plans to Limit Amount of Salt Allowed in Processed Foods for Health Reasons." Fox's headline is a tad more inflammatory:

"Obama Food Police Messes with Your Chips"! How dare they!

However, this evening I was walking by the Fox News building, and right on the "zipper" -- the building's illuminated headline display -- was a promo for this story:

Too fat to fight? Many American children are so overweight from being fed french fries, pizza and other unhealthy foods at school lunchrooms that they cannot handle the physical rigors of being in the military, a group of retired officers say in a new report.

National security is threatened by the sharp rise in obesity rates for young people over the last 15 years, the group Mission: Readiness contends. Weight problems are now the leading medical reason that recruits are rejected, the group says, and thus jeopardize the military's ability to fill its ranks....

"When over a quarter of young adults are too fat to fight, we need to take notice," [retired Navy Rear Adm. James] Barnett said. He noted that national security in the year 2030 is "absolutely dependent" on reversing child obesity rates....

So Fox thinks America's overemphasis on crappy processed food is a problem when retired military officers say so -- a problem important enough to run as a banner headline on the Fox News building and as a news story on the channel. But the Obama administration says something similar and it's fascist?

Well, hypocrisy on the part of these guys is no surprise -- but you'd think they'd be a little subtler about it.
