...(or whatever the Democratic equivalent would be); because we actually want results, not just a diet consisting exclusively of 24/7 demonization of the other side as evil; because we'd actually like the country and the world to be better, and we aren't satisfied with merely vanquishing the other guys in various rounds of Beltway infighting; because we'd like a decent resolution to the Iraq conflict, and, unlike Republicans, aren't actually cheering on an endless quagmire because we think it frustrates the other side; because of all that, today we have this L.A. A third of liberal Democrats, who constitute the party's base, approve of the job Congress is doing; 58% disapprove, the poll found.

The Republican base doesn't abandon its own pols, even when its pols screw up as much as it's possible to screw up -- all that matters to the Republican base is who arouses your hate and how clearly you express and act on that hate. Sorry, we want more.
