THERE ARE BIG LIES FOR EVERYTHING, INCLUDING MASS SHOOTINGS

I went to the main Breitbart story about yesterday's mass shooting in Highland Park and looked at the comments. For the most part, they're the usual Breitbart resentments, attached to this story as if they explain it:
We NEVER had this, not one time anywhere, when I was a kid growing up in the 60s and 70s. We never even locked our doors at night , and we lived in town.

****

The USA had an overwhelming White majority and the attack against Whiteness was at its very beginning.

****

I've seen one tranny in my entire life - a Home depot of all places! - but I can't get through one week without seeing a мud shark out in public.

****

I live in Florida. Went to a Walmart to buy a computer desk and I went through three employees just to find an English speaker!!!

****

53% of murders are commited by blacks ever year for decades. A black guy shoots up a party, park, or street every week-end.

Demonizing whites isn't helping You tell someone they're born a p.o.s becasue they're white enough, that's what they become.

****

And of course the corrupt CIA pushed this Dude over the edge & it was not a problem at all!
The same at Gateway Pundit:
This young man has been totally screwed up by wokeness. This is what the left produces. It is child abuse of the highest order. At school they screw kids minds by teaching them what to think, not how to think. And what they are supposed to think makes them insane - because it IS insane! Every Democrap created this kid! SHAME ON YOU ALL!

****

looking at those pics of him, i see a crap load of GENDER AMBIGUITY .... how about you?

****

Which brings us to the question, why aren't they banning drag queen story time, transgenderism and woke ideology instead of guns. Guns are just the symptom of the problem, the left turning kids into killers is the real problem.

****

Less Dems = Less Crime

80% of convicts admit they're Dems. The other 20% are, but won't admit. Get rid of Dems.

****

This crazed shooter looks a lot like leftwing antifa. A lot of antifa vibes coming from him.

****

Of course this FREAK is DEMOCRAT Antifa deliberately targeting patriotic Americans.
FJB!

****

One picture has him at a Trump rally, this makes me thik he was FBI groomed and the picture was a propaganda photo op for Biden.
Meanwhile, The New York Times is just now discovering that right-wing talk radio spreads misinformation:
November’s midterm elections are still months away, but to many conservative commentators, the fix is already in. Democrats have cheated before, they say, and they will cheat again.

In Lafayette, La., Carol Ross, host of “The Ross Report,” questioned how Democrats could win a presidential election again after a tumultuous few years in power. “They’re going to have to cheat again,” she said. “You know that. There will be rampant cheating.”

In Greenville, S.C., Charlie James, a host on 106.3 WORD, read from a blog post arguing that “the Democrats are going to lose a majority during the midterm elections unless they’re able to cheat in a massive wide-scale way.”

And on WJFN in Virginia, Stephen K. Bannon, the erstwhile adviser to former President Donald J. Trump who was indicted for refusing to comply with subpoenas issued by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, summed it up this way: “If Democrats don’t cheat, they don’t win.”
BREAKING!!! Talk radio is bad! Must credit The New York Times!

No, really, the Times thinks it just stumbled on something remarkable and heretofore undiscovered:
Mr. Trump introduced the nation to a flurry of false claims about widespread voter fraud after his electoral loss in 2020....

Republican politicians and cable outlets like Fox News have carried the torch for Mr. Trump’s conspiracy theories ever since. But the loudest and most consistent booster of these unfounded claims has been talk radio, where conservative hosts reduce the jumble of false voter fraud theories into a two-word mantra: “Democrats cheat.”
A correction: Mr. Trump did not "introduce the nation to a flurry of false claims about widespread voter fraud after his electoral loss in 2020." Not only did Mr. Trump make very similar claims about the 2016 election, which he won, but he was repeating claims Republicans and right-wing media figures have made for many years. As I regularly point out, Hugh Hewitt published a book called If It's Not Close, They Can't Cheat: Crushing the Democrats in Every Election and Why Your Life Depends Upon It in 2004.)

The Times story is full of fascinating new information. Did you know that talk radio is very influential? Me either!
Radio remains perhaps the most influential conduit for right-wing thought, despite the rise of podcasts and social media. Tens of millions of people nationwide, especially older Americans and blue-collar workers, listen to it regularly.
But it's really hard to monitor!
Misinformation experts warn that talk radio channels, many of which air political commentary 24 hours a day, receive far too little scrutiny compared with other mass media. Talk radio is also uniquely difficult to analyze and harder to moderate, because the on-air musings from hosts usually disappear over the airwaves in an instant.

“Liberals or even most moderates never listen to it, they don’t pay attention to it, they don’t see it, they don’t hear it,” said Lewis A. Friedland, a professor who studies radio at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. “So you don’t know it exists, you don’t know how widespread and how powerful it really is.”
If only there were some large news organizations with billions of dollars in annual revenue that could put resources into tracking these difficult-to-monitor broadcasts!

Someday someone will figure out how to, y'know, record talk radio broadcasts and monitor other right-wing media outlets. You know what I suspect they'll find out? That much of the crazy talk in the atmosphere, the stuff that poisons politics in America -- like, say, the belief that drag queen story hours are more dangerous than AR-15s, or the notion that the CIA organizes mass shootings and the FBI was responsible for January 6 -- have been spread by talk radio and other right-wing sources that are so goshdarn difficult to keep tabs on. Eventually, it might dawn on the Times that most right-wing voters believe a lot of crackpot stuff, not just crazy talk about the 2020 election, and right-wing media is why.

I appreciate the effort the Times is belatedly making. But it's years too late.
