YOU KNOW THAT THOSE BIDEN-AVERSE YOUNG PEOPLE AREN'T TURNING REPUBLICAN ... RIGHT?

Nearly a week after we learned about it, a result in a Quinnipiac poll is inspiring panic and despair. Here's the result:

This is a problem:

Older people have higher turnout -- but a majority of us older folks vote Republican. The young gave Biden the win in 2020, according to the exit polls:

So Democrats have lost the youth vote, right? Actually, it's not Democrats -- it's just President Biden. Here's a result from a Quinnipiac poll released a week before the poll with Biden's terrible youth numbers:

When respondents are asked about congressional control, Democrats' best age group is voters 18 to 34. The young want Democratic control of Congress by a 50%-to-35% margin. Every other age bracket wants Republican control.

So the young are disappointed in Biden. That's a problem for him in 2024, but it might not be as much of a 2022 problem as we're assuming. The young aren't moving to the right -- unlike every other age cohort. They haven't fallen for the notion that the GOP can be trusted. I'm not sure Democrats can get them to turn out in large numbers, but I'm sure Republicans can't.
