WOULD RED-PILLED SHITPOSTER BROS VOTE FOR MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE IF SHE RAN FOR PRESIDENT?

No matter how toxic the ultra-crazies in the Republican Party become, it seems likely that one of them will be the party's presidential nominee in 2024. Although Donald Trump himself is slipping in the polls, he still seems like the favorite to win the nomination. But it's early yet. By 2024, he might be in prison (though I doubt it). He might not survive another four years, at least in enough health to run. Or he might just get bored with politics.

So what lunatic might win the nomination if he doesn't? Could it be Marjorie Taylor Greene?

Maybe not. FiveThirtyEight has looked at polls from YouGov/The Economist, Morning Consult/Politico, and SurveyMonkey/Axios. In those three surveys, even among Republicans, Greene isn't very popular -- she's at 24% approval, 20% disapproval (though Donald Trump had pretty bad numbers among Republicans when he announced his run in 2015).

But here's another reason why she might not be the nutball chosen in 2024: The red-pilled bros at 4chan's /pol/ (Politically Incorrect) message board don't seem to like her very much. Earlier this week, someone at /pol/ started a thread with this message:

Does this idiocy matter? I think it does. Before Trump became president, Steve Bannon, at Breitbart, prioritized winning over young men like this, an idea he carried over to the 2016 Trump campaign. Trump was able to appeal to these clowns as well as to long-time GOP voters and previously apolitical middle-aged and older blue-collar types who have no idea what "red-pilled" means. It was a coalition of several categories of deplorable.

Democrats have a sexism problem, too, as Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Kamala Harris, and Kirsten Gillibrand can attest, but I think the sexism is worse on the right. Greene is an idiot, but I don't think any woman could win these mooks over. (Even the anti-Semitism in the comments I've quoted seems like sexism -- We think she's ugly, and we think Jews are ugly, so she must ve Jewish.)

If Trump doesn't run again, the next MAGA hero will probably need to be a man -- Trump Jr., Michael Flynn, Mike Lindell. A not insignificant segment of the Trump coalition is a He-Man Woman Haters Club.
