JARED KUSHNER WILL NOT BE THE CALMING INFLUENCE WHO SAVES AMERICA

There are some people out there who believe that, yes, Donald Trump is an ill-informed, racist rageoholic with ADHD and no impulse control, but his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, are stabilizing influences within Trump World.

Apparently, in the case of Kushner, that's not quite true, at least at this moment. NBC News reports:
The Donald Trump transition, already off to slow start, bogged down further Tuesday with the abrupt resignation of former Congressman Mike Rogers, who had been coordinating its national security efforts.

Two sources close to Rogers said he had been the victim of what one called a "Stalinesque purge," from the transition of people close to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who left Friday....

The purge indicates the emphasis on loyalty -- and significant influence of Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, husband of Ivanka -- that characterized Trump's campaign will carry over into his White House.

Multiple sources indicated that Christie was demoted because he wasn't seen as sufficiently loyal to Trump, failing to vocally defend him at key moments on the campaign trail.

But he has long been in a precarious position with Trump, due in part, multiple sources say, to a longstanding grudge sparked when Christie prosecuted Kushner's father in 2004. Due to Christie's investigation, Charles Kushner eventually pleaded guilty to 18 felony counts, including tax fraud and witness tampering, and was sentenced to two years in federal prison.
I understand why Kushner would have a problem with Christie, but it's not as if this is a new fact about him that suddenly came to light. Kushner learned to live with Christie's presence throughout the campaign. Maybe that was painful -- but if he's going to make a move against Christie, now is not the time. The transition is very important to the future of the country, It needs to go smoothly. Apparently Kushner's act of vengeance could wait until Election Day, but couldn't wait until Inauguration Day. Why?

And why does the purge have to include Christie loyalists? Mike Rogers had nothing to do with prosecuting the elder Kushner. This is a fit of pique that seems rather ... Trumpesque.

Well, we know that Kushner has no idea how the federal government works. We read this L.A. Times report last Friday:
Kushner’s presence at the White House on Thursday drew notice from Obama’s staff when he asked, as they toured the West Wing, how many of the individuals there would remain into the next administration. Nearly all will depart along with the president.
I understand that Trump himself doesn't have the patience to read anything and can't be bothered to learn how the government operates -- but if Kushner intends to be involved in Trump's administration, is anything preventing him from learning how administrations are staffed? Couldn't he at least have read up on the subject or talked to someone knowledgeable before making a fool of himself?

And we shouldn't think Kushner is a nicer guy than Trump -- as I noted yesterday, he schemed with Steve Bannon to give women who've accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault a prominent place in the audience at the second debate this year.
The gambit to give Bill Clinton’s accusers prime seats [at the debate] was devised by Trump campaign chief executive Stephen K. Bannon and Jared Kushner, the candidate’s son-in-law, and approved personally by Trump.
An ignorant, vengeful real estate scion? I guess Ivanka effectively married her dad, didn't she?

  1. Stalin was a vicious, psychotic, murderous despot and dictator, but you have to admit he knew how to run his government.

I see t-RUMP and his gang of thugs as more Idi Amin and his gang of vicicious murderous sychophants.

There's a Cat 6 Shitnado forming in DC!

  2. Uh Victor? Among the ways Stalin "knew how to run his government" was to create a famine in the Ukraine that reportedly killed two million people by starvation. And there was the "Doctors Plot" actually a largely anti-semitic purge that led nine doctors, six of them Jews, to the firing squad. And that's only a couple of tips of the iceberg. You could look it up.

This does not bode well for the United States.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.

  3. This so called "administration" will be a cluster-fuck from Day 1. It will evolve into the drip drip of scandals that will be intolerable for even the GOP Congress. Even worse that the names you mentioned but Kobach is being bandied about as nect AG. What could possibly go wrong? Or right? Fuckface Von Clownstick MUST know he is in over his head ALREADY.

  4. NY Crank,
I speak Russian fluently, as well as read it. And know its history very well going back to Kievan Rus.

Plus, in Stalin's late 30's purges, my father's father was executed, as well as several of my mother's uncles.
And several of my father's father's and mother's relatives starved to death in Stalin's "Harvest of Sorrow."

So, I kinda know he was about as far from an angel as a person could get. Believe me, I have a pretty damn good idea of how horrible a dictator he was.

I took no offense in your pointing out what you did to me. But it was a waste of time.

  5. I have to say, amid all the doom and gloom swirling around me right now, it helps make it bearable to contemplate just how thoroughly incompetent the Trump inner circle are revealing themselves to be, flailing and failing to do all the organizing, staffing up, etc. Clinton and her team could have waltzed through blindfolded while backstabbing and backbiting. I expect the next couple of months, indeed, the course of the next administration, to be more of the same, with all concerned wallowing in a morass of being thoroughly confused, miserable and angry. The palace intrigue should be epic – and hopefully crippling.

Yes, that sort of colossal incompetence in governance is bad for the country -- but wouldn't disciplined efficiency in pursuit of their agenda be even worse?

  7. Remember how many campaign managers Trump had as well as other incompetent spox. We should have a pool on how many SOS, Chief of Staff, Sec of Def ect the administration has in the next four years.
