A message on Sarah Palin's Facebook page:
Todd and I had a great time in Pasadena with Sportsman Channel working on "Amazing America with Sarah Palin" and dedicating the network to "Red, Wild & Blue America!" The show premieres in April. I can't wait to show you the inspiring people, places, and things that make this country truly amazing!OK, so Sarah Palin has a new outdoorsy TV series. What else does she have to say?
As I told members of the Television Critics Association yesterday, I'm especially encouraged to have opportunities to empower young women to get outdoors, be self-sufficient, and work extremely hard so they can live life vibrantly. See, I'm convinced the world will be a better place when we have more girls holding fish in pictures and fewer holding selfie cameras in front of the bathroom mirror.Yes, that's right: Sarah Palin -- Sarah Palin -- is lecturing young women about the dangers of narcissism, specifically about the dangers of taking and posting pictures of oneself.
Palin accompanies this message with ... um, pictures of herself:
(Caption: "Fly Fishing for Rainbows with Todd. Yeah mine's the bigger one.")
Also this one with Mario Lopez, host of the TV gossip show Extra:
You'll notice from the Facebook post that Palin also delivered this message at a TV convention:
Attention young ladies of these United States, Sarah Palin has a message for you!Does Palin see no contradiction in telling young women not to be obsessed with themselves while promoting her own TV show? While posing for pictures with semi-celebrities? While bragging (as she does on Facebook) about hobnobbing with famous TV news anchors and their mothers?
"I think this world would be better off having more young women holding a fish in a picture than holding their camera in front of a bathroom mirror, talking a selfie." The 2008 Vice Presidential candidate announced to a room full of reporters at the Television Critics Association Friday morning....
And, no, friends, upon spotting CNN's Wolf Blitzer at a TCA event, no one was tempted to re-engage any Department of Fish and Game Predator Control Program to scamper away troublesome wolves! I had a nice chat with him instead. (Plus, I adore his mother.)I know this is just Palin, or her ghostwriter, trying to glom onto the Great Feminist Selfie Debate of Late 2013, in which we earnestly discussed whether selfies are "empowering" or "a cry for help." But Sarah, please drop it. It's embarrassing.

ReplyDeleteNow THAT'S a fish! It just shows that progressives do everything better.
As likely as not a fish the young woman can't eat because Palin's pollutin' pals have pumped poison into the water.
ReplyDeleteThis whole "You aren't an American unless you're a hunting fishing farmer" thing won't last much longer though, 'cause there won't be any family farms left.
empower young women to get outdoors, be self-sufficient, and work extremely hard so they can live life vibrantly
ReplyDeleteWhat is this supposed to mean, exactly? Sounds like she's promoting the hiring of young women as indentured field-hands.
