Not Nasty Enough

I like this, but it could be nastier:
COLUMBUS [OHIO] -- Before getting a prescription for Viagra or other erectile dysfunction drugs, men would have to see a sex therapist, receive a cardiac stress test and get a notarized affidavit signed by a sexual partner affirming impotency, if state Sen. Nina Turner has her way.

The Cleveland Democrat introduced Senate Bill 307 this week.

... Turner said if state policymakers want to legislate women's health choices through measures such as House Bill 125, known as the "Heartbeat bill," they should also be able to legislate men’s reproductive health.

...The Heartbeat bill would prohibit abortion once a heartbeat is detected, as early as six weeks into a pregnancy.

... Under Senate Bill 307, men taking the drugs would continue to be tested for heart problems, receive counseling about possible side effects and receive information about "pursuing celibacy as a viable lifestyle choice." ...
I love the snark -- but let's take this a step further. How many men using erectile-dysfunction drugs actually die in the saddle? How many do so leaving children fatherless? Let's make that what we talk about whenever we talk about these drugs! Let's publicize every such death as an ED horror story! And if it happens rarely, well, let's just make up some statistics that "prove" it happens a lot! That's what right-wingers would do, isn't it?

And shouldn't we require documented proof that any man seeking a prescription for erectile drugs will use them only in a marital sexual relationship, and only -- as Rick Santorum would no doubt insist -- in the pursuit of future offspring (which, after all, is the only legitimate reason to have sex)? Shouldn't we deny erectile drugs to anyone who's had a vasectomy or whose wife is past childbearing age? (We don't care about your little girlfriend on the side, you male tramp.)

Come on, folks, let's do this right.

  1. I get the reasoning behind this but isn't this making the issue of gender rather than stupid fundamentalism beliefs. It isn't only right wing men who are against a woman's right to choose.

  2. I think a catheter has to be involved also, until they stop talking about using wands.

And Conservatives, you really DO need to see a doctor.

Your hard-on for President Obama has lasted well over the limit - it's in its fifth year!

  3. I think it would be interesting to introduce state-regulated use of erection drugs into the Ohio polity.

Fun info-byte: The abdominal aorta, which carries blood to the lower regions of the body, can, under the right circumstances become so clogged with deposits of cholesterol and the like, that what should be a fire hose becomes more like a kitchen sink sprayer hose. The usual sufferers, baring the rare genetic/environmental anomaly, are older people, some of whom are men.

It can be repaired by putting in a Teflon substitute, and, like all surgery above getting a wart removed, carries a certain amount of risk.

If nothing is done, the occlusion can be such that it's virtually impossible to do more than walk across the room at the kitchen sink stage of things.

But that's not when older men get it replaced.

They do so when they can't get it up anymore.
