THE WINGNUT WIGOUTS JUST KEEP COMING

I told you about Citadel Walled Compound Extortionist Guy, and about Narcissist Child- and Government-Threatening Survivalist Guy -- and now I'm reading about another dangerous right-wing coiled spring: Colin McGroarty, who went to his child's kindergarten, heard the Pledge of Allegiance recited in a way he didn't like, and freaked out:
McGroarty said Friday he volunteers at the school once a week, working first with kindergartners on mathematics and computer skills, then with first-graders on art. He has children in those grades.

He said Wednesday was the first time he was there to hear the kindergartners say the Pledge of Allegiance. He thought he heard the word "liberty" removed. But more importantly, he said, was that the pledge was immediately followed by students' recitation of the school creed. In it, students are asked to treat others with respect, follow school and classroom rules and "to try their best." He said he was upset they pledged this while still holding their hands over their hearts and facing the U.S. flag.

There should be a break between the pledges, he said, and students should not be facing the flag. He called it "conditioning a child" to blindly obey authority without knowing what is in the rules they are promising to obey. "In the beginning of the Hitler Youth movement, people made similar promises," McGroarty said.

At the time, McGroarty went to speak with the school principal, but was put off. He returned to the library and continued his work, but then asked a librarian to call the principal. When she refused, he said he told the children: "Children, do not blindly follow to swear allegiance and to follow rules without knowing what they are," and told the children to ask their parents about Nazis.
Yikes. He said this to kids in kindergarten. And what set him off was a wording error made by kids in kindergarten -- because, y'know, at that age they should have the patriotic precision thing down cold.

We're told that McGroarty has been banned from school property -- though he says the school is just overreacting:
When he emailed school officials that he had "spilled blood before" and would do so again to defend freedom, McGroarty said, he was not threatening violence; he was speaking as a military veteran who had sworn to protect the U.S. and defend its Constitution. Veterans, he said, will understand that.
Oh, sure. Perfectly understandable.

A quick look at McGroarty's YouTube page reveals a whole bunch of other stuff that I'm sure you'd only find disturbing if you were a Nervous Nellie: an Alex Jones video titled "Obama Orders Children Murdered"; a subscription to the YouTube page of a company called Imminent Threat Solutions; a video interview of a KGB agent titled "How to Brainwash a Nation"; videos with titles such as "England Warns America: Don't let them take your guns" and "NRA: The Untold Story of Gun Confiscation After Katrina" and so on. Did I mention "ARE YOU A DEBT SLAVE?" -- a video featuring David Icke, the guy who believes that "a secret group of reptilian humanoids called the Babylonian Brotherhood controls humanity"?

Maybe it's good for America that all this craziness is coming to the surface -- sunlight being the best disinfectant and all that. Unless, of course, these crazies kill us all first.

  1. Why aren't people like this guy, followed by a troop of people with butterfly nets, to take him away, 'Hee-hee, ho-ho, ha-ha, to the Funny Farm...?"

Oh yeah, budget cuts for mental health care, starting with Ronald Reagan.

What always amazes me, is that, if you want a drivers license, you have to study, and show some level of knowledge of laws, as well as aome sort of actual aptitude, before you are allowed to drive.

But any motherfecker can become a parent.

Wtf is wrong with THIS feckin' picture?

  2. So, he thinks making Kindergarteners and 1st graders recite an affirmation to respect others, abide by class rules and try their best is a dangerous indoctrination procedure, but the Pledge of Allegiance ISN'T?

If he really believed that kids shouldn't be "conditioned to blindly obey authority," why isn't he upset over what may be a compulsory Pledge of Allegiance? That's "my country, right or wrong" if anything is.

So students shouldn't have to recite the Pledge of Allegiance? Doing so would be to "blindly obey authority". Just like Hitler.
