SAY THAT I WAS A DRUM MAJOR FOR MASS MURDER

Do you support gun control? If you do, the editorial board of The New York Sun considers you the moral equivalent of George Wallace in 1963:
There have been so many irresponsible statements by those seeking to exploit the tragedy at Newtown, Connecticut, that it's hard to keep up with them, but for the combination of arrogance and inaccuracy one can't beat the editorial the New York Times ran out this week under the headline "Personal Guns and the Second Amendment."

... The Times was referring to the Supreme Court's decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, which ... found that the Second Amendment guarantees to Americans an individual right to keep and bear arms. The Gray Lady seems bound and determined to stand in the school-house door in one of the greatest civil rights battles of our time....
Yup -- if you don't want Adam Lanza armed, you're this guy:

Bonus idiocy from the same editorial:
So why did the Founders enshrine this right? What were they aiming to do when the vouchsafed that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed? Why did they so fear standing armies? Who gets to decide whether the danger of standing arms creates the need to protect the right to arms?
So the right now thinks America should dismantle its standing Army (and Navy and Air Force and Marines)? Yes or no? I know a lot of the Ron Paul crowd sincerely believes that, but if the rest of the gun-absolutist right agrees, they should say so. If not, they should explain precisely why gun laws are a betrayal of the Framers' original intent, but having an Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines under the control of the national government isn't. Go on. We're listening.

  1. OY!
You ever notice how the Conservatives, who have been on the wrong end of every human rights issue in the past, oh, I don't, know... 10,000 years, over the last few decades in America have wrapped themselves up in MLK Jr. and the Civil Rights movement?

It's the right's of the fetus.
    The right's of men.
    The right's of white men.
    The right to own guns.
The right's to heterosexual marriage not being polluted by gays.

And anyone who disagrees with them, and thinks any analogy for defense of their own hateful causes to Civil Rights regarding integration of African Americans, is beyond stupid, is now someone who is like George Wallace, or any one of the countless other racists who opposed (like today's Conservatives really do, in their heart-of-hearts) MLK.

Oh, and did you know that most of those people were DEMOCRATS?
If you didn't, or if you forgot, don't worry - they'll remind you every nanosecond or two.

My question is, what "organized militia' did the shooter or his Mom belong to?

Conservatives, it was because we DIDN'T have a standing Army or Navy, that that "right" was included.
We have more than we need now. And an Airforce, and missile and drone forces.

And any idea that a passle of paunchy white pistol-packin' peckers is going to take on the US Army, and win, is beyond delusional.

You, and your merry band of rasicst, misogynistic, xenophobic, and/or homophobic, pistol-packin' rebel's will be blown to microscopic pieces, before you can utter the first syllable of a prayer to Jesus.

To all of you wannabe Henry V's out there - stay home, drink your fifth's, and STFU!
    You ain't gonna do shit!
You're just compensating for the puny pecker that God, or evolution, handed down to you.

  3. The majority of Americans do not own guns. I will not live in fear and I will not arm myself either.

  4. It bears repeating, the Second Amendment was not "enshrined" to overthrow the government but to throw down a tyranny of a few ore the majority. That minority might as easily be an out of control government as bare footed rubes blindly following a charismatic leader to suicide, or the corporate dogs who own them both.

  5. Actually, NYT is in denial about what Heller really did.

    Down with the 2nd Amendment!

  6. Umm, hey Militia Guys. How many of you can fly a fighter jet? Or even afford one? So how do you shoot down enemy bombers when they come to nuke you? Or how to you pay for, arm and fly enough bombers of your own?

By the way, I know this is smart-assy of me to mention, but I can't help noticing that the Newtown killer got his guns from his mom, and that he used one of them to blow her away. Maybe the problem was that with two pistols and a semi-automatic r
    rifle, she wasn't armed enough.

Or maybe nobody explained to the guns that they were supposed to shoot the shooter before he shot their owner.

Okay, I'm gong back to sleep now.

    Very crankily yours,
    The New York Crank

    In her sleep.

(Or maybe she was supposed to shoot him in her sleep before he -- wide awake -- could shoot her.)

  8. What a guy!

He decided to spare his mother a few moments of terror and helplessness, and shot her in the head while she was asleep, but then decided to terrorize over 2 dozen children and women.

Well, at least he dispatched his Mom without her knowing the monster she had, to some degree or other, helped to create.
