Uh-oh -- Barack Obama is an America-trashing Antichrist who hates freedom because he used an ironic rhetorical device (I believe it would be litotes):
President Obama vowed Thursday to fix any problems that contributed to the deaths of four American foreign service personnel during last month's attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, saying that "when four Americans get killed, it's not optimal."Irony is for effete college professors! Real men believe in straight talkin'!
Mitt Romney is now going to spent the next week and a half using that nyah-nyah tone of fake theatrical outrage and saying, "Did you hear what the president said about this outrageous act of terrorism? He said it was not optimal! Can you believe that? Well, I'll tell you this, Mr. President: On November 6, the voters are going to give you experience that is 'not optimal'! Heh heh heh heh heh!"
And, um, Obama actually used the phrase "not optimal" because the person he was addressing -- Jon Stewart -- used the word "optimal" in questioning him:
Stewart asked Obama whether the investigation would address communication problems that contributed to confusion about the circumstances of the attack in Benghazi. And Obama agreed: "it's not optimal."
"Because I would say, even you would admit, it was not the optimal response, at least to the American people, as far as all of us being on the same page," Stewart said.
You see, Barack Obama is a human being, with normal human conversational habits. Someone uses a word in speaking to him and he includes the word in his reply. This is how ordinary human speech works.
But it won't matter. This is now a gaffe. This is now a scandal. And Mitt Romney will be damned if he's not going to deprive himself of a ten-day self-righteousness-gasm in response to it.
So yeah, it's obvious Obama's in desperation mode because he's talking about binders full of women and OMG HE JUST CALLED THE DEATHS OF FOUR AMERICANS NOT OPTIMAL!!!!1 THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS!
ReplyDelete"You see, Barack Obama is a human being, with normal human conversational habits. Someone uses a word in speaking to him and he includes the word in his reply. This is how ordinary human speech works."
The key word here is ordinary. Conservatives are not ordinary. They're societal misfits who don't understand normal speech patterns and wouldn't recognize irony if it bit them in their sweaty, fat bellies.
This makes me sick.....
ReplyDeleteThis is NOT a gaff, unless all you do is read that ONE line..... then of course if it is just the one line, it will be dishonest about what was actually said and how it was said.... the Right wing won't care.... they will jump on ANYTHING these days...
Tho, to a certain degree, I hope he does bring this up at the debate.... or tries to use this to score cheap political points....
Cuz it will TOTALLY backfire.....
Obama should tho, find a way to get out in front of it....
BY the way.... I LOVE your blog....
ReplyDeleteI am starting to get really sick of the right wingers infesting Liberal News Sites....
I am fine with debating....
I just don't have time to constantly have to correct people that are so uninformed....
Also, I do NOT like that they can't seem to call our sitting President by his actual name...
Ohhhh such lovely names they call him.... Obummer... Obomination..... Oblammy.....
Ohhhh and people have even now taken to calling him stupid and brainless... Oh that list goes on....
I just can't stand these people anymore....
and now with them Politicizing the deaths of these 4 Americans....
I just can't read their trash anymore....
Echoing... oh, I see.
ReplyDeleteBut isn't that a pretty dumb form of communication?
Parroting your interviewer is a good way to fall into a gaffe trap.
But I guess Obama is "sort of God" standing above the country making remarks that are too clever and compassionate for conservatives to understand.
Rightklik,
ReplyDeleteI sure hope you have a much funnier brother, LeftKlak, because otherwise, your family get-togethers must be awful dull.
That't an NPR joke, son!
But you won't get it. NPR is probably too elite, and not exceptional enough for you.
And as for the parroting and falling into a gaffe trap, well, I can't argue that point. There's certainly some validity there.
But at least President Obama didn't set a trap for his opponenent, like Mitt E. Coyote, then walk right into it - hoist by his own, and the right-wings echo-chambers, retardedness.
Here' a clue when visiting a Liberal site - unlike righties, we don't "God-up" our politicians. We're not the ones who tried to make W. into Churchill.
We want competence, with maybe just a hint of inspiration.
We're not the ones looking for the 2nd coming of a political Messiah like Reagan - Conservatives are.
And as for "remarks that are too clever and compassionate for conservatives to understand," that would be most of the them uttered my non-Conservatives - wouldn't they?
Why come here, and poop out your insipid word-turds, when in your right-wing jirkle-cerk sites, you're probably the life of the party?
A droll Car Talk joke... Good for you!
ReplyDelete"unlike righties, we don't 'God-up' our politicians"
Oh, is that right?

"We want competence, with maybe just a hint of inspiration."
Lately, Obama's been failing miserably on both counts.
And you expect better from Mitt Romney?
ReplyDeleteAnd never mind inspiration, Mitt couldn't lead a man who'd had a 12-pack of beer to the Men's Room.
Mitt had money, and yes, that's it's own form of leadership.
But that's a far different cry from real leadership.
Real leaders tend to be liked. I've not heard to too many people who genuinely LIKE Mitt - even the ones who are planning on voting for him.
And as for the competence issue, if Obama were either white, or a Republican, I think he'd be appreciated much, much more.
He's far, far, more competent than W - though, that's a bar most six year-old suffering from ADD could hurdle over easily.
Obama is far more competent than Reagan - and that's without factoring in that poor man's sad decline.
Of course, since Reagan's amongst the Pantheon of Republican God's, I'm sure you'll disagree.
Obama's no Liberal, much to my chagrin.
But I think he's up there as far as competence with Clinton and Ike. And much as I hate to say it, George H.W. Bush was pretty competent himself.
