A story from yesterday:
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney argued Tuesday that if the president's signature healthcare legislation was overturned Thursday by the Supreme Court, it would mean that President Obama's first term was a waste. Now here's a detail from a new Fox News poll on health care (click to enlarge):
..."As you know, the Supreme Court is going to be dealing with whether or not ObamaCare is constitutional. If it's not, if ObamaCare is not deemed constitutional, than the first three and a half years of this president's term will have been wasted on something that does not help the American people."
People don't favor the law (approval/disapproval in this poll is 39%/49%, which isn't very different from what other polls are showing), but they give Obama credit for trying. (I've noticed this in other polls as well.)
And, of course, the polls show that Obama is a favorite to be reelected, even if voters don't love the health law. For voters, in other words, the health care law clearly isn't the make-or-break issue. And I suspect it still won't be after tomorrow.
Ixnay onay ealthcarehay, itMay!
ReplyDeleteIt might remind people, specifically your base, that Obama modeled his health care program on yours in MA: the ONLY thing YOU accomplished in your 4 years as Governor there, and pretty popular in that state - and the voters there STILL hate your feckin' guts!!!
So, Mitt really needs to stay away from two things now - immigration, and health care.
And Mitt knows jack-sh*t about foreign affairs.
That leaves jobs and the economy for the "Outsourcer in Chief" of Bain Capital.
I think, the more people look at him, the less they'll see him as the person who should be the President.
Sure, he looks presidential, wears expensive suits, and looks great in them - but the man himself is an empty suit.
First 3 1/2 years of Obama admin not a waste - Mitt
