GROVER WANTS A RIOT OF HIS OWN

The news reported in this New York Times storyis infuriating enough, if utterly unsurprising:

A comprehensive study released on Thursday found that 280 of the biggest publicly traded American companies faced federal income tax bills equal to 18.5 percent of their profits during the last three years -- little more than half the official corporate rate of 35 percent and lower than their competitors in many industrialized countries....

Using information from the companies' own corporate filings, however, the study concluded that a quarter of the 280 corporations owed less than 10 percent of profits in federal income taxes and 30 companies had no federal tax liability for the entire three-year period....

But then a quote is solicited from Grover Norquist and he says this:

Despite the decline in corporate tax rates since [the 1950s], business advocates say the nation needs to lower its top rate further to encourage hiring and investment. Grover Norquist, head of Americans for Tax Reform, said that the United States system was not competitive because it taxed income earned around the world, instead of just in this country.

"There are still Bolsheviks who recognize that we need to bring the rates down," he said.

Yup -- not only does Grover Norquist think corporate taxes in the U.S. are too high, he thinks that makes him a Bolshevik.

Look, I get it -- Norquist (like much of the rest of the right) is still angry about because he thinks all the good press and other aspects of societal approval go to lefties (in his head he's including the Soviets, but primarily he's thinking of the kids he went to college with; I'm sure he thinks they had all the good sex and great drugs and the admiration of the culture, and the he didn't through no fault of his own).

So, Grover, look: If we proclaim that you really were cool in school, and say that you were a big stud, and that we as a nation should have slept with you on the first date back in your junior year, will you please go away?

  1. Grover's like Douthat and Brooks.

They couldn't get laid with a fistful of pardons in a men's or women's prison, and they never get over the rejection. It's eternal, because they're as ugly on the inside as they are on the outside.

I think they're all in deep denial about their latent homosexuality. And there wouldn't be anything wrong with that if they were open about it.

They would have made great and very willing Death's Head Squad SS officers.
They think they'd look great in those spiffy uniforms and long black leather coats.

And then, maybe, they could get laid if someone was begging for their life.
But then, even then, most people might have more dignity than to do that.

  3. Harr! I'll sign on to any such proclamation, Steve, if it makes Grover Too-Bad disappear.
