WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST HIRE GLENN BECK'S PRODUCER?

An attack ad for the elitist Senate campaign of Republican John Raese, who told a radio host a couple of weeks ago, "I made my money the old-fashioned way: I inherited it," began running recently in West Virginia. For this ad, the appearance of genuine blue-collarness was obtained through fakery:

"We are going for a 'Hicky' Blue Collar look," read the casting call for the ad, being aired by the National Republican Senatorial Committee. "These characters are from West Virginia so think coal miner/trucker looks."

"Clothing Suggestions" included jeans, work boots, flannel shirt, denim shirt, "Dickie's type jacket with t-shirt underneath," down-filled vest, "John Deer [sic] hats (not brand new, preferably beat up)," "trucker hats (not brand new, preferably beat up)."

(The ad is at the end of this post.)

Gosh, there sure seems to be a lot of this going around among Republican elitists these days, doesn't there? A couple of days ago, we had Pat Gray, the producer of the radio show hosted by Glenn Beck (Beck's income last year: $35 million, according to Forbes), mocking the accent of Gene Cranick, the Tennessee man whose house was allowed to burn down by firefighters because he'd neglected to pay a firefighting fee:

GRAY: But I thought they was gonna put the fire out anyway, but it burned down. Dat ain't right! [...] What's the Fire Department for if you don't put out the fire?! [...] I thought they'd put out mah fire even if I didn't pay seventy five dollars.

HAW HAW HAW!!!

Why didn't the elitists who made the Raese ad just get Pat Gray to play one of their "hicks"?
