HEY, WHY STOP THERE?

From Politico today:

A member of the Republican National Committee told me Tuesday that when the RNC meets in an extraordinary special session next week, it will approve a resolution rebranding Democrats as the "Democrat Socialist Party."

When I asked if such a resolution would force RNC Chairman Michael Steele to use that label when talking about Democrats in all his speeches and press releases, the RNC member replied: "Who cares?" ...

Hey, Republicans, why stop there? Why not impose all the wingnut shibboleths?

Why not pass a resolution requiring all Republicans to refer to the secretary of state as Hitlery Klintoon -- always followed in print by "(PIAPS)"?

Why not require all Republicans to refer to the mainstream press at all times as the "Drive-By Media" and Harry Reid as "Dingy Harry"? (Rush Limbaugh has been using these, especially the former, twenty or thirty times a day for years and years, and he's still waiting for someone -- anyone -- outside Inner Wingnuttia to follow his example. Maybe if you guys give him a hand, Jake Tapper or Mark Halperin will finally notice?)

And how about a resolution requiring all angry memos and press releases to be written with LARGE GROUPS OF WORDS in ALL CAPS and RANDOM "QUOTATION MARKS", like THIS (click to "ENLARGE"!!!!!):

Really, all this and more would be so helpful in rebranding the GOP, don't you think?

****

UPDATE: Atrios says,

It'll be even funnier if the media bites. You know, "The Democratic Party, otherwise known as the Democrat Socialist Party..."

I think there's at least a 50-50 chance that Fox will switch over completely, and not even bother with the "otherwise known" part -- after all, several years ago Fox banned the term "suicide bomber" in favor of the conservatively correct "homicide bomber." (The right is gradually cornering the market on language PC these days.)
