CONVENTIONAL WISDOM IS UNKILLABLE

Jennifer Rubin, in a New York Observer article entitled "What the G.O.P. Hopefuls Need From Bush":

Some vetoes and clearly enforced budget priorities would remind voters that fiscal restraint may require a Republican president to offset the excesses of a Democratic Congress, and that there is a real difference between the parties on fiscal responsibility.

Yeah, you're right, Jennifer -- there is a difference between the parties on fiscal responsibility:

And, of course, the leading Democratic candidate for president is the wife (and a key adviser) of the only president in decades to have balanced a budget, while the leading Republican candidate envisions a "massive military buildup," plus tax cuts, just like the president he invokes so often, Ronald Reagan (he's also planning to pay for infrastructure repairs with tax cuts). But Democrats are the fiscally irresponsible party, according to Jennifer Rubin.

I hate these people.
