Even mortally wounded, Trent Lott last month was a reprehensible son of a bitch: On December 16, he spit in the faces of families of 9/11 victims, who wanted him to appoint former senator Warren Rudman to the commission investigating the terrorist attacks, choosing former Navy secretary John Lehman instead.
